Started on this little sandbox game so I want to introduce it to other anons.

>What is Mad Island?
Imagine The Island, but with porn and anime. You can base build, explore, gather resources, and capture natives to make into meat toilets. It has Flash-tier 2D jank but it's acceptable graphics quality for this type of game in my opinion.

>Why should I play this?
Mechanically, it's a fun experience with a lot going for it. The game gives you a lot of freedom to do what you want. Savage native tribes and butcher them for consumption? Sure. Peacefully run a farm of native milk hags? Go for it. The game also caters to a lot of different fetishes, but it has a strong (though avoidable) emphasis on guro.

>Where can I play this?
Amusingly it's on Steam. Can't be arsed to find the yarrharr version.

>Does it have loli?
The dev site has a "DLC" that you can download for free that enables child natives. You can find it here. https://emadeplus.com/dlc/

Pros:
A lot of freedom in a open world sandbox that lets you do some truly heinous things.
Caters to a wide variety of fetishes, from mundane like rape to even NTR.
Customizability is quite good, allowing you to modify characters as you see fit.
Built on Unity so modding is quite easy.
Rapable monster girls. There is literally a rape mechanic in the game and it gets quite OP provided the target can be raped.

Cons:
Built on Unity so fundamental engine limitations exist.
Jank Flash-tier 2D artstyle and animations.
Features both a female and male protagonist, and you must play both to get the most out of the game. Experience is not shared.
Made by a small Jap indie dev so translation issues and bugs crop up every now and then.
Mechanics are poorly explained, if explained at all, and a lot of things are very opaque.
>>68588 (OP)
Dev's been going at this one for a while now.
I don't have them at hand, but there are console commands you can use to cheat if you just want the porn.
Kinda wish you could turn off the guro, but it is what it is.

■Debug Commands
During the game, press Enter and enter commands in the input field that appears at the bottom left.

■How to change the main character
Click on the main character you are not controlling and press the switch button

■Feeding aboriginals and animals
You can feed NPCs by stunning them and then placing them in a cage with their favorite food.
When the love status (pink colored number) is maxed out, they can be summoned as friend NPC.

■About Sex Scenes
You can see all characters and sex scenes from "Preview" on the menu screen.

The female character may be grabbed and attacked after being knocked down by an enemy.
If the stun bar (white gauge) runs out due to a grab attack, you will be raped.

You can interact with the aborigines you've made friends and have sex with them by selecting "Conversation" → "Invite".
After "Invite" you need to select a bed.

The male character can rape the female aborigine by approaching her and pressing the R key.
After grabbing with R, click repeatedly to remove the stun bar and it will become a rape animation.

If you approach a female aborigine sleeping in a house at night and press the R key, a night crawling animation will appear.

When NPCs who have become friends are placed within range of each other, their love status increases according to their affinity for each other.
NPCs who like each other will have sex in beds nearby.

■About the Event
The event occurs at the location of the diamond mark shown on the map.
Red is for female character only, blue is for male character only, and green is for both male and female characters to start the event.
At green events, the conversation may differ slightly between male and female characters.

■character customize
NPCs who have become friends customizable through equipment and facilities.

■Level Up and Skill Up
Click on the star icon in the lower right corner to open status, level up, and skill up.
When a friend NPC is selected, the status of the friend NPC will also be displayed.

■About Craft
Click on the hammer icon in the lower left corner to open the craft window.
When you interact with a workbench, the contents of the craft window will be updated with the items that can be created at each workbench.

I spent a combined 30 hours on this over two save files, and somehow hours after dropping it I want to play it again. It's addictive yet very flawed.

One of the biggest issues is NPC management. NPCs want several things within their ring of territory, a building with beds in it, a well, and a food box. The building+bed is easy enough, the well is difficult early on as it's fairly expensive iron wise, the food box is a pain as it requires manual filling—there's an NPC job for filling it but even with NPCs set to it I kept having to top it off. Maybe the job only functions when the box is under a certain percentage filled?
The real issue here is how limited the NPC's max size territory ring is. Stuffing all their needs and their work areas into these rings is a pain in the ass. I wish I could set larger zones to assign NPCs to instead, or at least leash wells and boxes to NPCs.
The next thing is combat. I gave myself a hefty amount of skill points enough for 30 strength, ~900 HP, and 99 speed on my second run. Even with that a lot of the enemies in latter areas were heavy hitting damage sponges. Take note that the speed stat affects weapon swing speed, which I did not know before 99'ing it, even with the 99 speed and the machine gun like attacks there were still damage sponges. I can't imagine what late game combat is like in a non-cheat run, fuck I almost want to try it.
Lastly, I hate the inventory limits. The main character's inventory is manageable, if you carry around dead bodies to function as mobile chests. Work tables and chests are a joke, and juggling your crap between them or even dumping stuff off when returning home is awful.

All told it's the best eroge "release" I've seen since Monster Black Market. Looking forward to it being completed and seeing what mods it attracts.
Replies: >>68659 >>68668
>>68626
No, you can only rape females, and that's only when you play as the male character unfortunately.

>>68634
I'm kind of divided on the combat. On one hand, the thing with HP barely mattering because most late game stuff will one-shot you anyway makes it more thrilling. On the other hand, the game mechanics don't really support that kind of gameplay. There isn't even a dodge function, so you just need to do hit and run for basically every battle.

I've started a third mostly non-cheat run, cheated in the end tier gathering tool and the collection to save myself some hassle. I've learned some things and felt it best to add onto what I previously said.

>NPCs
Concerning the building+bed issue. Building wise there're three options; native tent, log cabin, and stone cabin. Ascending in size and price. So, I found you could stuff 6 leaf beds (player and NPCs can walk through leaf beds) into a native tent and roughly 15 into a stone cabin. However if you place a bed too close to the door using the bed will make both player and NPCs use the door, making the sixth bed useless. I tried to save space and resources by using several tent+5bed setups, but indoor areas share the same "z-level" and I found some NPCs would spend their waking hours attempting to walk to the another tent's door.
As for NPC labor, the excavation, mining, and logging areas are working as intended (slowly). Livestock is kind of fucked. I set up two breeding pens with a cow and sheep each, to gather milk and wool respectively, and had three NPCs working on them. I watched as the NPCs went over with the work icons over their heads on both pens and assumed things were working. After several days I went to check the harvest box and found that only wool was collected, I believe the issue is that the sheep pen was nearest to the harvest box. I fear a similar situation may be occurring with my farming area. I've thus learned to drop harvest boxes directly next to all pens/planters.
I really wish we could leash NPCs to chosen work areas, buildings, wells, food boxes, and harvest boxes. Given the need to use the largest buildings, far from each other at that, as well as several harvest boxes the limited ring size feels even more constraining than before. It'd be even more fun to assign NPCs to pure guard duty and route out patrols for them to follow.

>combat
Is very different compared to when I zoomed across the map and assraped everything that entered my sight. As >>68659 said hit and run is the name of the game. I think that speed is the most important stat for fighting and can feel its affect as I am able to dodge attacks I couldn't five levels ago. Dying isn't an issue as you simply respawn to any flag you've placed at full health and inventory, I've abused this to respawn and fuck up the nearly dead guy who killed me several times. Given this combat isn't the pure hell I thought it'd be, but I suspect it will be when I take on the endgame dungeon.
The respawning is cheesy as hell, but I'm starting to think the combat is designed in such a way in order to allow the feMC to get raped without throwing the match. I've never really been interested in the "lose>get raped" genre so I'm happy with trying my best with MC and respawning to finish the job, but I can see how the set up would appeal to those who are interested. Though, you could probably achieve a similar effect by nerfing the feMC's stats compared to the MCs without forcing players who aren't into loss rape to cheese, cheat, or overlevel.

>inventory
Given that I freed up a slot via cheating in the gathering tool and cheated in the collection, allowing me to craft all work benches from the get go, it's not the issue that it once was with a mess of vaguely organized chests and work tables. I have learned to store some of the more rarely used materials in the furnace. I probably will have to start dragging mobile chests again when I take on the dungeon and its non-stacking loot again.

Unfortunately it's a placebo effect on your ability to dodge related to speed, as speed only affects your rate of attack.

As for harvesting, I got pretty consistent results from enslaving some Mummies from the dungeon and getting them to do it. They did get stuck on the human milkers frequently, though.

Anyone know where I can find the glasses girl? People mention a prison somewhere but I've never found it. Also apparently there's a merchant somewhere?

No, speed increases swing animation and movement speed. As in I could feel its affect when I was able to attack then move to avoid attacks I was physically (digitally?) unable to before. There does seem to be a block mechanic where if you defend at the right time the damage, to you and the shield, is halved that seems to not interrupt your swing. That could be a placebo on my end I admit.

The most important fish is the goldfish, which you need to craft rejuvenation potions via captured old man. Those potions can be traded to the merchant for more powerful versions. Both can be used to de-age NPCs down to 18, but the most important usage is to transform old men/ladies into elder brothers/sisters.
Other than that there are some meal recipes that call for specific fish, which you can place on tables to strengthen NPCs during raids. Never bothered with it much as NPCs have a difficult enough time with pathfinding as it is. Lastly if you've got fish autism you can decorate with them using aquariums or pools.

It might seem like it has potential, but it actually has a lot of content already. Perhaps a bit too much. If the guy has added nearly a full game's worth of features and the UI is still this fucked and janky, it makes me pessimistic for its future. The game is clearly past the pre-alpha unity slop phase and yet playing it still feels like pre-alpha unity slop, and with a clear lack of QA that seems unlikely to change.
So I've reached the end of the current version. What are some activities you can actually do with the NPCs?

I felt as if the NPCs barely mattered. I've got like 4-6 NPCs, assigned them to various tasks - farming yielded nothing (and I had no idea where i should store seed that NPCs would plant), husbandry did nothing, logging got me barely one tree worth of logs after a long time.

I tamed some big monsters: big foot, werewolf, goat to protect against raids. Was silently hoping these guys would either intermingle with the NPCs or rape the raiders but again did neither resulting in some monster girl hybrids.

Based on other anons' feedback I feel like I've either overhyped or just somehow missed a lot of content that the game has to offer. I still enjoyed the game.

You pre-plant the fields. I don't think they actually plant seeds, but instead generate an item when farming a fully grown plant which then regresses to seed state. I had hoped to get them farming enough for full self sufficiency food box wise, but even with 20 farmers that never happened. Thankfully cooked meat is 30 food.

>husbandry did nothing
Livestock job works on Breeding Pens, Pig Sties, and Milkers.
I tested a lot of animals with pens and only got cows and sheep to produce anything. The cows are rather prolific and with enough you could probably full your food boxes without issue.
I couldn't find how to get the pig sties to produce meat over pigs and porc, but I guess they're nice if you want pork or an emergency meat source. You can butcher the porcs and pigs produced by putting them in your inventory and pressing t while hovering them.
Milkers are nice in that you chuck in an NPC who has given birth and they passively produce tiddy milk. They have an inventory slot to store bottles, so having them in the livestock work area is pretty much a waste of labor and space.

>logging got me barely one tree worth of logs after a long time
Yeah, they're slow. I treated the logging, mining, and digging stations as self filling piggybanks for mats.

>Was silently hoping these guys would either intermingle with the NPCs or rape the raiders but again did neither resulting in some monster girl hybrids
Aside from Mermaid, and Giant if your definition is strict enough, there are sadly no monstergirls. I'm hopeful mods will support that as the devs don't seem interested.

I did find that kids produced by MC tended to have black hair, so genetics is a thing. I considered creating breeding programs to create desired NPCs, but gave up as that was too much work for a game I was largely finished with. Aside from that I did have fun using the dye bench to autist out the best outfit for individual NPCs, which got boring after 3-4.

The jobs other than "food" seem to be there just to produce crafting materials for the player, and it doesn't seem like the "food" job is affected by the presence of any food items that might be in harvest boxes or traps.
Not sure if different NPC classes produce different amounts on the "food" job, but it seems they will eat different amounts, with the big monsters eating fucktons, so unless you want to fill the boxes yourself a lot, you'll need a lot of NPCs set to "food". Keep in mind they only fill the box nearest to their set "location", and whatever they eat will be pulled from the same box.
Similarly, if they're assigned to livestock, farming, or harvesting, everything goes to the nearest harvest box. If you set up a big enough farm to be producing all ten plantable crops, that will produce twenty different items and fill a harvest box entirely all on its own, so if you've got that and NPCs on harvest and/or livestock, you'll things will disappear into the aether.
It seems like NPC farming is very inefficient, and it might be easier to just use two stone or three wood planters, enough for one slot for each item and a second/third slot for items you find yourself using more.
The "harvest" job will produce leaves, fibers, berries, and also wonderberries, which grant XP when eaten. Any companion with you will get some XP when you eat them, or you can just feed them directly to the NPC. I frequently switch to the FemC just to eat them, so she's more capable in the fights where I'm forced to use her.
Anon pointed out the issues with livestock being mostly non-functional. Tiddy milk can be used to make food to fast-age loli into adults, but if you've gone to the trouble to enable loli, I'm not sure why you'd want to do this. Tiddy milk can't replace cow milk in recipes. Cannibalism is one thing, but human butter is right out!

If you do want shitloads of NPCs, there's some other stuff I have been able to gather.
If they're set to enter houses, they will only check for an empty bed in the building nearest their location point, and then a bed outside in their set territory. Not sure if the buildings are coded to have a max occupancy beyond the number of beds you can stuff in. Only use leaf beds, because NPCs can walk over them. If you stuff in as many wooden beds as you can, NPCs will get stuck in the building and then not do their job.
With native tent, you can stuff in five leaf beds, or six if you don't mind blocking the door. Not sure if it's a good idea to leave beds hanging off into empty space, but it can be done to squeeze in more. Wood cabins are bigger, and stone houses are even bigger. You can build them into hillsides.
Apparently NPCs will also run into issues if buildings are too close together. Currently trying out a set-up with one central well and food box, with four houses as far apart as I can manage, so the NPCs in each building only have territorial overlap on the well and food box, and the buildings at the far edge of their territory.
This could help if your NPCs hate each other, since that will drain "moral" and they don't seem to do SHIT at low morale. Apparently if you don't want this hassle, you can just switch off love and sex for the NPCs, and this will unfuck their shit. Not sure if you'll need to do this for everyone, or just the problem NPCs.
Monsters and animals don't use beds. They can make good guards, but it seems like having them set to a job in addition will make them derp out and do the job over killing raiders.
Anyone with sufficiently low food and water levels will take longer to heal, and won't heal to full, so pay attention to how rapidly your food box empties without your influence. Wells refill at a set rate, but I guess you could make more wells and move them to the buildings, once you have the reources.

Loli and shota are shit in a fight. Set them to "survivor".
Native women are also shit in a fight, with native men being slightly better. Also "survivor".
Old men are shit in a fight, but they can craft rejuvenation potions and abortion potions and rotten meat. "Survivor".
>Rejuvenation potions need green herbs, carrots, and goldfish. Green herbs you can get from bushes, carrots you can grow, and both will drop from natives. Goldfish come from inland lakes, there are some northwest of your starting point. If you want to be a tryhard, you can go fishing manually. If you want a shitload of goldfish, make 10-15 fish traps, and just put them in the lakes.
Old women are even worse in a fight, but they can craft a bunch of clothes for native girls if you want to play with dollies. "Survivor".
Big native men, I haven't experimented much with. There is a female variant you can get in raids, but you need to make flower wreathes from the plant workbench and those require flowers from way up north.
Elder brother natives are great in fights, especially if you give them a battle axe, which they can craft. It has 22 damage and no special attack bullshit to override heavy attacks, requires two iron ingots and some wood. "Aggressor" or "defender".
Elder sister natives are pretty okay in fights. They can make clothes for both elder siblings. "Defender", or maybe "aggressor" if you can find a better weapon than the wooden spear.

To get elder brother natives, you'll need an old man, a shitload of rejuvenation potions, access to Legally Distinct Nanachi the Trader, and a Life Orb. You'll probably also want enough red flags to make the journey in stages.
Bear in mind that when you turn an old man into an elder brother, he can't craft you rejuvenation potions any more.
You can capture an old man in a large native camp north and bit east of your start. Follow the road north to the first native camp, and then continue north-ish. You'll get to a palisade and green smoke. Smoke is quest stuff. Blue needs the MC, red needs the FemC, and green works for either. Don't go into the green smoke unless you want a nasty boss fight, which you may or not be ready for. Instead, head east from here to get to a large native camp. This camp should have old people and kids.
To get to Legally Distinct Nanachi the Trader, head west along the beach until you find another road going north. You'll pass through a mid-size native camp which you can probably raid for XP and loot. If you can't take this fight, turn around and go harvest more shrubs and trees.
The forest west of this road has a Bigfoot in it. Kill or avoid him, but don't bother capturing him this early, he'll respawn so there's no rush. You probably don't produce enough food to keep him yet, and the cage to tame him requires 4 iron ingots.
Continue north on the road until you find a cave. This cave has a fair amount of iron in it, enough for early game anyway, but also spiders and a spider boss. Kill and loot the boss, grab the spider workbench schematics, and exit the cave to the north.
This gets you past the barrier without having to fight the quest boss behind the green smoke, and the spider workbench will let you make spider storage, which replaces cloth storage, and doubles the capacity from 5 slots to 10. They can also be walked through, which makes it a lot less of a pain in the ass to cluster them.
Continue north along the road for a bit to get to the coast, then follow the coast until you recognize the bit of the map with the trader on it, shown by helpful anon here.

You can trade one rejuvenation potion and one life orb to Legally Distinct Nanachi for a "rejuvenate secret potion". To get a life orb, either feed a pregnant native woman/loli an abortion potion or just lose the baby in childbirth. Midwife homes guarantee success in childbirth, they're in the wooden workbench.
Birth only seems to happen when manually triggered, only native women and girls can get pregante so far, there's a sound effect, an update in the log, and the friends list, which you'll get access to after the story boss behind the green smoke, will have a little baby face icon next to her that slowly colors in as the pregnancy progresses.
In the status screen and friends list, the header is [name](number). The number is age. Each regular rejuve potion reduces age by 1. Feed your old man regular rejuvenation potions until he goes down to age 60. The friends list doesn't seem to be updating properly for me, but the status screen does.
Once your old man is down to 60, feed him a secret rejuve potion, and Bob's your uncle, or in this case your older brother. He's now a big buff dude who can make axes and doesn't afraid of anything, but he can't make you any more potions so you'll need a new wrinkly old guy, or just to have made a truly ridiculous amount. He also spawns in with a heavily damaged iron axe you can use a repair kit on, so you can save yourself two iron ingots making one yourself by ganking his. Well, only net one after the repair kit, but iron's precious early on.
The process is the same to make an elder sister native. Lower her age to sixty, then the "secret" potion.
Going this route for the early game gets you access to good, cheap weapons for the MC and FemC (and the big brothers), and pretty good fighters for your settlements that will actually do jobs and eat reasonable amounts, unlike the big monsters or even just bears.
I just finished the game, no cheating involved. Ended at level 70, 15 hours played, day 39.

Stats aren't really necessary, you can compensate for them through better weapons. Speed is definitely the best for increasing both movement and attack speed, but it's still far from required. I never even bothered leveling up my second character and they could still do their bosses just fine, surviving hits thanks to 90% damage reduction shields. The Katana especially makes things easy, its heavy attack is a dash which sends you through enemies and it can get multihits sometimes.

Biggest issue is skill points, so much stuff is locked behind them. Getting carry, leader, and observation leveled up for NPCs was losing out on harvest and smash upgrades. Feels like I didn't have the prerequisites to easily utilize NPCs until the end of the game, by which point there was nothing to do with them.

Inventory management also sucks, but that's nothing which hasn't been mentioned. If you are going to cheat, grab yourself a rainbow chest or two while you're at it.

You need certain plants for crafting and various cooking recipes so letting the NPCs handle them is a load off the micromanagement. You're right in that the crops get harvested with a seed left behind so they constantly replenish themselves somehow, I don't know how it works exactly when the NPCs do it, but I've never needed to replace seeds unless I wanted to swap out the crops.

Speaking of farming NPCs, the ideal NPCs for work are those that don't sleep (excluding the underground woman, who literally just stands there doing nothing). Particularly you want the androids that you can generate by saving Cassie in the lab and then chopping up natives for bodies and limbs. These androids don't gain or lose any favour, nor do they care about morale or even sleep, so they're ideal farmbots for passive mat generation. They even have a fuckton of HP and a decent attack stat so they function as an okay defense force as well.

>>68842
In the early game you only need 1-2 levels into HP regen for convenience and the rest should be dumped into harvest ASAP so you can maximize your grind. Later on you can drop levels into carry and smash, and none of the other options are particularly important.

If you don't care for combat, getting the bare minimum to defeat the Giant and getting her to be a follower is an easy way to ignore the rest of the game. She is strong enough to pretty much solo anything else barring high level raids (and those too, with a bit of luck).

This is super informative. I didn't know elder brother/sister even existed; same with big native women despite fighting Lv. 100+ raids.
I probably got myself a Steam version because I couldn't find the trader despite applying DLCs which is a bummer.

This might sound like a stupid question but what exactly constitutes cheating? Because I found the game progression relatively easy simply by obtaining EXP Fruit M's that dropped in large quantities (400+) from NPCs.

I disagree, I think it's worth putting two levels into smash before getting harvest 3. Being able to cancel heavy attacks' endlag with your shield makes the combat significantly less clunky.

I'm not sure how it works, but I think it's directly related to the /exp command. If it were just levels I wouldn't have heard advice to get exp from berries instead.

>Caters to a wide variety of fetishes, from mundane like rape to even NTR.
To be clear on this for anyone interested—There's a couple who are together, Reika and Keigo, and your actions can result in the male player taking Reika's virginity, or just fucking her in general. Keigo can even be killed if you want, but I like him and he will never fuck anybody ever after you've made Reika yours so it isn't a danger of getting NTR'd down the line. (fem MC can't even fuck him, he will spend eternity a virgin)
Reika can also be fucked before you take her, if do nothing to stop it.

Technically speaking, no getting NTR'd yourself, because you basically can't establish a relationship. You can make a character love you, and you enable "Allow sex" and "Allow love" for them to swing with other characters in your base. There's no dialog for this and the love is not dating, it's just a vague affection value.
Unique characters cannot be raped besides specific story choices in the case of Reika or playing and failing in the case of fem MC. The rest of the females generally can if they are captured by a raiding party (the screen will say [name] is being targeted if the raid is going to take them, and you can also control this somewhat so that the target is always someone they can't take, the fem MC) and even then only if you take at least 10 real world minutes to get to the enemy camp and even then only if you take much too long to beat the guard, as the character will be taking 2 faint damage repeatedly(starting when you reach enemy camp) and it takes a while before they're beaten and can actually be raped.

And there you go, for anyone that needed to know what kind of NTR there is to worry about or look for. You can't be a cuckold, no one cheats on you.
Of note, if you Allow Sex on everyones' orders, the lolis seem very inclined to have sex with each other all time. It is always happening in my camp. Never seen loli x adult woman, but I only have 2 adults in the camp and maybe 8 lolis. So, who knows.
I like how attacking with a bow makes you punch, if you don't nock the arrow
And heavy attacks work. I can and have punched someone's head off because of heavy attack dismantling.

I usually build my bases on efficiency, not beauty, so I can't really help you here. But I do think a good way to start is to choose your base in a nice location. The flower forest with a lot of yellow flowers and water pools in the SW part of the map may be a good spot. There's also a big sakura tree north of the muscular tribal boss that has a nice spot just east of it.

Gotta say that you shouldn't build too near NPC buildings or it'll gimp your building space a lot. I tried to incorporate the ruins near the dungeon into an earlier base, but it ended up terribly with a lot of space headaches.

I always end up building my base outside the iron mine, because it doesn't really work to build inside the mine. Sadly, it's only closed on two sides, raiders will wade through the river and breathe water to cross through the lake. There's at least one raider spawn where they'll get unreachably stuck, but if you get the decoy amulet from the guard after one of your natives is nativenapped, you can slap that on whoever and and as long as they're toward the southern end of the base, the raiders won't spawn in that little nook north of the lake where they get stuck, at least so far as I've seen. The lake's also at least a nicer place for the mermaid to play than the tiny stone pool, and doesn't have sharks like the ocean.
I think the beach on the east coast, just east of where drug lab is, might be the most defensible spot, assuming you don't want to cheese stuff with a decoy-amulet-wearing native on an unreachable platform with spikes underneath. The grassy bases on the breeding and pig farms look like shit contrasting with the sand, though. I don't think it'd be much better on swamp, mountain, or forest either, at least until/unless the devs/modders make the job sites blend better with the terrain they're placed on.

How many times have you started over? And why so? The stats and skills don't really give a given playthrough an identity and there are few choices of consequence. I'll play again from the start because, now that I know how to play and where things are, I think it'll be a lot more fun than when I was fumbling around in the unknown. Which is the reverse of how most games feel, for me.
But I don't see myself starting over a third time unless I take an absence of years

When I do play again, I'm going to make a much more aesthetic base. I'll rush capturing and setting up the jobs, it is so crazy how many exp fruit come from harvest jobs.
Location is a hard pick. I chose the sakura tree because it is central. I figured I'd be going all over the map throughout the game, so being able to return to the center for free would pay off. But I've seen a number of spots that make me think "Is this just here explicitly to be a good base location?"
I want something with verticality. I like the spots where there's a little rise overlooking the rest. Food isn't an issue, it turned out. Even with expensive hunger costs to fast travel across the whole map multiple times, it just doesn't matter.
Definitely capturing a cow sooner and setting up my animal farm properly. Healing 50% HP at the cost of a few soybeans and some milk is powerful, I could approach things differently with that.
>Livestock
By the way, how do you breed anything besides pigs? I can't seem to figure it out. Pigsty is easy, totally passive. But I make breeding pens and put a rooster and hen and nothing fucking happens. Do I put the eggs in there? I can cook with eggs but I can't figure out hatching. I put cows in there, just milk.
I figured out I could put a witch hat on my chickens but I can't breed them.
Looking forward to when they can breed my captured lolis though. Weirdest thing, this native man I had kept getting the horny heart and trying to bed the animals, but since there's no animation, they just never have sex. All virgins, to this day, despite constant desire to fuck.
But still, how do I breed them? I want the pink cow, the "chicken?" chicken, and whatever a rare sheep would be. The golden pig is nice though.
Maybe I should set up base in the mountains where the cows spawn so I get a lot of beef randomly and passively.
Grabbing the wing crafting table early would be good too. A shield that gives +10% movement speed is so nice.

>How many times have you started over?
Not sure. Four or five?
>And why so?
Add my own rules, like only domesticating natives that actually raid me, instead of invading their camps.
The downside is that you need to make it almost all the way to the Wing Workbench to get the flowers you need to make the wreaths for female raiders to spawn at all. And once they do, trying to whittle them down to a single lady without accidentally killing her can be frustrating. Easier if you make enough wreaths that ALL the raiders end up female, but then you could still just like the look of a particular one, and then trying to keep her, specifically, alive to the end is even more difficult, since AoE attacks will probably kill her and leave you dealing with amazons. Also, big sisters only spawn in the Halloween raids, specifically, and the elderly people you'd need to make your own don't raid at all.
Much more frustrating, but it's a sandbox game, the "fun" is setting your own goals and limitations.
But I hate changing my own rules mid-game, so if I want to try something different, I end up starting anew.
>Definitely capturing a cow sooner
There's an illusionary wall in the iron mine that can get you into mountain terrain where cows can spawn, if you didn't know. Just go through the mine until you reach the second Angler spawn (the glowy purple beasts) and instead of going out the southern exit that's right there, go back north through the cave, until the cave walls appear to block you from going north and east. A big section of the northern wall, you can pass through. And then if a cow doesn't spawn, just walk back into the mine and out thrrough the illusionary wall again, because this reloads all the non-persistant spawns, basically everything that isn't an unbeaten boss or in your friends list. You can do this until a pink cow spawns, too, that'll just likely take a lot more attempts.
>breeding pens
I think the only things working with them are the cows and sheep. You can just put both in the same pen.
I initially tried with roosters and hens, and rabbits, but there's no actual breeding involved, so the pens seem misnamed. Your natives will just milk the cows and sheer the sheep. Milk is used a lot more than wool, so I went with three cows and two sheep, but four and one probably would be better.
I've only seen the pigsty produce poop, and that's only good for making planters. I've never not had way more poop than I needed, since you can get it from killing rabbits, deer, and pigs. Rabbits and deer I need to kill for leather anyway, and pigs are full of meat. You can make small traps to catch huge numbers of rabbits, and bear traps (from the iron workbench) will catch deer and pigs on grasslands, sheep in mountains, and the, uh... the electrical lizard things, in swamps. Have not tried them on desert or beach terrain. I've heard the golden pig comes from the pigsty, but I don't know.

>the pink cow
Definitely not limited to one, I've had two at the same time before. They spawn where normal cows do just a lot more rare, and you bonk them with a club. Then you can either drop them in a breeding pen or domesticate them, but the pink cow only eats milk and mother's milk (build milkers from the men's workbench, put in one native woman or loli who has successfully given birth, and then a worker on livestock duty will need have the milker in their territory. The mother's milk won't get delivered to a gathering box, but it will stack up in the milker).
I haven't seen her produce a special consumable like the "Chicken?", but compared to the normal cow, she has less HP, and recieves less HP from leveling... but +8 damage for every point invested, compared to the usual +3/4 of most things. Uses up two companion slots like the regular cow, has the same 20 inventory slots.
The chimkin, because I feel weird including an interrogative in a noun, spawns anywhere the other chickens can. I've noticed that at least a couple have spawned so close to my base that they got killed before I ever even knew they were there. I don't recall any statistical differences from the roosters and hens, but if you stick her in a poultry farm, you'll sometimes get a golden egg in addition to the regularly scheduled normal egg. Eating them's worth 100 XP in addition to the normal food and water values, but the small wonderberries are worth 80 XP and harvesting duty yields a ton of them, so the golden eggs are more of a novelty than anything. Maybe they'll add a recipe requiring them later?
As for the witch hat on chickens, I want a witch costume for the underground women. Maybe then I'll get around to setting up a Halloween-themed village in the swamp, by the lake.
>Weirdest thing, this native man I had kept getting the horny heart and trying to bed the animals, but since there's no animation, they just never have sex.
Never seen this happen, but I generally don't even have male natives around, so... that checks out.
The women and loli I keep around don't try to fuck the wolves, spiders, or bears, or vice versa.

>There's an illusionary wall in the iron mine
I knew very little going into this, but the one thing I wanted to look into was the question I saw "Where is the loli village?"
So I know about the wall. I didn't even like the loli village. The costumes suck and the layout is basic.
>Your natives will milk the cows
You mean my horde of animals and monsters. In my save, my livestock are tended to by 90% animals. My golden porky, baby necks, demon bull, a deer, another cow, so on and so on.
But then again, I suppose the wild animals on the island are also natives. They were born there.
>Breeding is misnamed
I'm so miffed. Quite displeased. Utterly bothered.
>put successful birthed mother in the milker
Oh that's the issue. I was deliberately stillborning a lot to make rejuvination potions. The girls I tried hadn't had a baby survive yet.
>I've only seen the pigsty make poop
I've had mine produce probably 30 pigs, and there's a button to turn live pigs directly into meat. Was really handy for taming the werewolf. And that's how I got golden porkies (many). Lots of high quality pork.

Strong majority female in mine too and i never see it. It's just the men that try to fuck all the animals. I also find the men usually develop hatred for the mummy women.

>loli village
I think it has a point if you max out perception and want to go shopping for a loli that you like the look of, and/or has a specific personality, and/or specific liked/disliked personality.
You'll still have to knock most of them out to see what they look like under the silly costumes, though, and knock ALL of them out before you can look at their personality sheet.
My autism doesn't extend that far, I just label the ones that are my daughters. And double-daughters. And triple. And so on.
>Really unfortunate how specific most costumes are.
Weapons, too. Not a coder or a dev, but from what I read, they don't have a "universal" skeleton model they base things on. Loli, native woman, underground woman, Yona, Reika, Sally, Cassie, Shino, Giant, they all stand, pose, and move differently, so they can't just morph an outfit from one model to the next, they've got to start over from scratch. Similar with weapons, they can't just paste it into the hand and re-use an animation.
Not efficient, but it does make for a lot of appealing visual variety.
>I also find the men usually develop hatred for the mummy women.
I think the personality settings for mummy/underground women are still only semi-functional. It seems like their design started with no personality, like animals and monsters. In 0.7/0.8, tamed underground women were still just "underground woman", but now the game generates a name for them, just like it does for natives.
Oh, reminds me.
>But then again, I suppose the wild animals on the island are also natives. They were born there.
If you put a baby in a loli or a female native, and she births you a son, that son is a "native boy". This only SEEMS like it's indistinguishable from the native boys sired by male natives, or the ones you can kidnap. If you feed enough growth potions to your son, you get a "young man" model. All other native boys just turn into male natives.
Young man definitely has some different weapon options, and I think uses the same sex animations as Man, instead of the ones used by the male natives. Not sure, though.
Eventually I'll get around to putting a son in a native, growth-potioning him to adulthood, and then shoving him and his mother into a cabin in the woods with a lumbermill.

Follow the shore, picking up some items. If you have the DLC enabled, you can get a Fnickers on the beach (random spawn, looks a lot like a stick)
<Route split, hug the cliff and go around
<Go through the cave and fight spider boss early (making a spear will be about enough.)
>From there, you can follow the blue line to grab the Fnickers follower (takes 4 party points and you start with just 3, so you need to spend a skill level on it.)
Then you keep going up, run past everything, into the desert. Grab lots of cactus. The small cactus just takes a single durability of your axe and it fast way.
Then when you get to the final target, there's a chest with the sand crafting bench.
>You can now make cactus shield and sickle, a 90% resistance shield with damage reflection and a 15 damage weapon. They just take cactus to craft.
You're now ready for pretty much anything. A big step up from spear or a wooden sword.

Placing stuff is so jank in this.
The modding tool is for placable decor and walls, not interaction stuff or items.
But when that gets added, I'll probably just snatch up the lantern graphic, pin it to the hip, make it a wearable. I probably can't do that to the base item both in how the modding tools are designed and also it'd cause a conflict with the placement button and equipping button both being the same. But a recipe of lantern + rope would do it.

Some wearables produce light, like the crystal sword, torch obviously, and something I'm forgetting I'm sure. But until you can get a rare drop angler hat, I think you're stuck with being unable to see much in the dark while using a shield. I do a lot at night, I want to see.

In moments, just dash all over the place, leaving nothing but corpses. Animation cancel may actually be overpowered. But it feels good. It feels like skill. And it's not a bug, it is explicitly the level 3 heavy attack bonus, exactly as it says on the tooltip.
And then the mirror shield. That's also insane.
I wish there were challenges that actually justify having this much power.

Personally I've never used shields. They feel pretty clunky and I like being actually able to see what I'm fighting when I use a torch.

That aside I'm just learning from a FUCKING STEAM REVIEW that you can speed up the game up to x10, yeah thanks for never letting me know about this devs.

I went a long time just moving out of the way of an attack, since they're all very telegraphed.
But the DPS boost of canceling during the recovery of your attack is huge.
And sometimes you do just block stuff. The effect of a perfect-timed block is satisfying, and the mirror shield is unbreakable if you always perfect-block. It will, however, break very fast if you don't.
Luckily repair kits are cheap.

After you beat Boss Native (center of the map) you can return to your base and have a conversation trigger (glowing spot to trigger it) and they'll decide it is better to pick a new spot than wait around for a rescue ship.
After that, you can click the other protagonist and select Move > Location and mark another spot. You can also craft a blue flag and wherever you put the blue flag, you can click "call" to summon them to that spot.

So,
>Find spot you want them
>Put down blue flag
>Click blue flag and select Call
>Click other protag and select Move > Location > the spot you want
Bout time we have a thread for a new game. Been like 5 years.
How are the characters interactions in this game? I notice you can fuck or have any meaningful talks with the female mc. Not sure if I wanna continue with the game if it's just like that. Once you add more girls to the base what can you do with them? Do they have any personality?

So you are supposed to run into a native camp in a desert, grab the chest contents, and then run away? Too easy if the chest is unlocked already without any conditions like getting rid of all hostiles nearby.

Yeah, chests are all unlocked when they are found. If it did require killing the nearby natives, it wouldn't be too terrible to do, so I wouldn't mind a balance change to that.
But for now, you can just run in and grab it, then leave, avoiding any fights.

>Young man definitely has some different weapon options, and I think uses the same sex animations as Man
Regarding sex animations, his scene with the large woman is different than the male MC.
Is the English translation made by the original game designer studio, not a third party? The pause message is left untranslated, the description of many craftable objects is also left as moonrunes, in several sentences the grammar or the choice of synonyms picked is really strange. For example, if a character is pregnant, the game would ask "Give birth to [Name]?" where the name asked is of that pregnant character. In English that question would mean giving birth to a newborn with that predetermined name. You should ask "Send [Name] to give birth?" or something similar instead.
Hmm, no matter the number of exp berries I consumed or skill points gained with cheats, the raids in the starting area are still at the 1st level of experience, only the number of natives invading rose to 16 at some point. The further you go to the north, the higher their level, so you should better stay downmap if you are getting your ass handed to you.

What is that "Core" you get after the 5th level for? And after tying Takumi up you are supposed to feed him some grub to prevent his death. What kinds of food are good for him?

>the northern island tip bridge quest is still WIP

Are uniquely named female NPCs that aren't natives able to fuck around with anybody else than the male MC after recruiting them? I'm not asking about the mermaid, underground woman or the female mummy. How to recruit the cowtits lady? Where is the prison warden?

In the prison, silly.
Find prison: Get the three gems to open the triad gem door in the north(or glitch around with flags) and then in the north region go east into the grassy native zone. There's an entrance to the prison on the south side of that village
>>69731
Can you rotate furniture or buildings. or is it always the same orientation towards north? Because I have noticed that stone houses, if placed wall-to-wall without gaps in-between, are the best indestructible walls against raiders in this game (because their pathfinding can get stuck indefinitely as long as you don't draw their aggro), the only problem is that they can only work as the northern wall, with the other three sides still unsafe. Water isn't a barrier for raiders, and any normal walls will be broken sooner or later. If they appear from higher ground, they can sometimes drop down to your settlement even if you can't scale that escarpment up yourself.
Replies: >>69733
>>69732
There is no intended rotation, although you can make flat objects rotate by putting them on strange geometry and then moving them back to flat ground.
Personally I just kill raiders with AOE. Very fast.

Yep, that's how it works
I'd say the best defensive position on the whole island would be the flat peak of the highest mountain in the right corner of the range spanning from the native chieftain gate. The only way inside is the long bridge from the mountainside hot spring. If there wasn't a native settlement already there, damn. And you even can't destroy any native structures besides containers, so you can't drive them away.
Replies: >>69767
>>69766
And to get to some strange places you have to maximize the crafting distance skill, then place red flags in places you cannot reach otherwise. Guess the rest.
Can you craft an empty torture installation like that one that the Slave Sally (defeated warden) is confined to?
>>69760
Really? You can put that pregnant loli in a stone or wooden device (a few varieties) to fuck her, you can make out of her a fucknugget without limbs to fuck, but you can't fuck her without any of those. Definitely strange for me.

Was kind of hoping girls in toilets would auto-miscarry for life-orbs. I think if you get them pregnant, you still need to tame them to induce birth.
Maybe it just didn't trigger for me, and I need to set up an all-male settlement with some toilets to increase chances.

>>69759
Might be in the works. They added masturbation for female natives, and they get a "tits" icon over their head while they run to the nearest bed. The loli will also get a tits icon, but when they run to the bed, it just cancels. Presumably, loli masturbation will be a thing. Or it could be a bug.

The mermaid now has a ranged attack, so you can set her up in one of the stone pools and set her to a job in her vicinity and she'll act like a turret for you. Haven't tried setting her to train, not sure how that will work out, but she gathers food quite well.

>Maybe it just didn't trigger for me, and I need to set up an all-male settlement with some toilets to increase chances.
Yep, upon testing, life orbs will be deposited in the second slot of the toilet crafted from the Mens' Workbench. Didn't try it with the wood or stone toilets available from the Wood Workbench, but if you can get life orbs there, they'd have to go straight to your inventory, since they don't have a second slot.
Presumably you can equip the no-miscarriage item if you want your toilets to have permanently swollen bellies. Maybe it's a baby, or maybe they've just had that much cum pumped into them.

This game reminds me of another one that's made in Unity by some guy from Brazil. He named it Tacarasu for some reason. The differences are that one is in 3D with low polycount characters, there is lot of incest (5 female relatives) and still barely any pregnancy. Everyone runs around naked, including the MC, and native women are roughly a head taller than him. No base building, the survival aspect is much simpler and far less dangerous. Controls and the interface aren't streamlined there either. No loli content, no ryona/guro content, the MC has the sole human dick around. No continuously flowing time, each day is divided in 4 parts that most events take one part of to happen. A single guy project with all related problems. Besides being rough around the edges, the biggest problem is boredom after a while.

There's a Christmas event where you can get a couple more named NPCs. Some new costumes for a smattering of people. Shino can now equip a knife or fork (but sadly not both).
There's a promised update for late February or early March to focus more on advancing the story, speculated to be about glasses girl since she hasn't been added yet but is needed for the next step of the story that's written (building the bridge into the heart of chaos territory).
