Part of the reason why rabbits tend to breed in litters is because they have a more active sex organs than other, more normal, animals. Scientists have documented that, whenever a rabbit enters a rut, their testicles begin to overproduce sperm until they finally release their testicles’ contents. Preferably into the vagina of another creature. It should be noted that the race of the animal doesn’t matter, and rabbits have been prone to rape other animals in order to release their sperm. And, it’s an understandable problem because, whenever the rut begins, a rabbit’s testicles will continue to enlarge in size until they ejaculate. While normally the size of a chicken egg, it has been documented that some rabbits have had their testicles expand up to the size of a watermelon. Along with one anecdotal report claiming that a rabbit managed to have their testicles enlarge to the size of a tire.
It should be noted that this isn’t a painful process. Majority of rabbits, while rutting, manage to maintain most control over their actions. However, as time goes on, and their testicles become larger, rabbits begin to steadily lose control of their senses until they are nothing more than predators looking to engage in sexual activity with another animal. While previously mentioned that they particularly seek out the vagina of a female, often resulting in rape if unsuccessful, that does not indicate that rabbits will remain sexually exclusive to females. Rabbits consist of hermaphrodites and females, so two rutting rabbits do often engage in sexual intercourse whenever a female cannot be found in the area and both subjects are struggling to retain full control of their actions.
Although, be it rare, there is undeniable evidence that rabbits even resort to raping males of other species when left no other option. Usually considered the easiest species to subdue under normal circumstances, a rutting rabbit can exert as much stamina and strength as an adult male bear. Thus far documented, the only claimed methods for a male to subdue a crazed rutting rabbit is to either surrender oneself, usually resulting in the male being anally raped and left unconscious from the intense sexual acts, or attempt to subdue the rabbit and insert their own penis into the rabbits vagina or anus. Despite the usual risk of pregnancy if one were to insert their penis into the former, rabbits are completely incapable of procreating with other species. While it is currently unknown why there is this biological incompatibility, it currently helps the rabbit population from skyrocketing and completely overpowering the other species that exist.
Final note is to be made about circumstance of the pictured subject. Due to the crazed sexual tendencies of rabbits, it has become common for rabbit couples and rabbit spouses to restrain the hermaphrodite rabbits during rutting season. Despite the previous dangers mentioned, this practice is carried out due to the sexual partners wanting to have more intense sexual activities than are usual possible. Although, there appears to be an increasing practice of restraining rutting rabbits for another nature. Recent claims have been surfacing about the nutritional and health benefits of rabbit sperm. While the validity of these claims has yet to be proven or denied, some businesses have already started creating rabbit milking facilities, where sperm can be milked from the rabbit’s testicles and mixed into various so-called nutrition drinks and body care products. So far, the only confirmed side effect is an alcoholic-like addiction to the products due to their universally acclaimed “taste” and “smell”.
