>I watched this one years ago because it had that madman Klaus Kinski on it, it has a stellar soundtrack at the very least but its an otherwise mediocre film in my opinion.
I think it suffers from a somewhat slow pacing, and weak plot. I admittedly started to lose interest in it during some of the second half, until the ending came. I also thought the romance between the protagonist and the mutt woman was cheap, forced, and uninteresting. Not to mention that her husband had just died like a day earlier, lol. A few other scenes could have been written better as well. The one I hated the most was when the sheriff gets killed by Klaus Kinski in the silliest way possible by escorting him all by himself and then turning his back on him like an idiot. The film's strong points are the atmosphere, and the ending. I liked the protagonist being mute too. The dialogues weren't particularly memorable anyway. Klaus Kinski was also very cool. But I agree that it's otherwise mediocre.

I didn't pay too much attention to it because I was cooking while watching the film, but I'm sure it was good.
