A thread for bong media, both for bongs and for fags from elsewhere who want to see something non-pozed so expect the thread to be weighted towards older shows and films.

Starting with an absolute classic from the last decade before British culture started to disappear in the face of American cultural dominance. Also Michael Caine. magnet:?xt=urn:btih:E40A5E9641 8B1F77E22FF71A2DAC E9F31BA7FCB9 remove the spaces but I can't speak as to the quality of the torrent, if someone knows where to hunt for better ones with active seeders I'm all ears

Did Michael Caine ever learn to drive? I remember hearing they had to tow his car around to make Alfie.

1080p scene rip of Get Carter

These are better tradeoffs of size:quality:
1080p: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:47118d9561dd9a9533b88763351d9c305d6c7a71
720p: magnet:?xt=urn:btih:562f07db3c36d8834549fb1638f147056d1f9cf5

But really for anyone who cares about quality you should be hunting down torrents yourself so whatever.

I never knew he couldn't drive. I'll never look at the Italian Job the same way ever again.
Here he says he learned to drive during The Italian Job - https://www.autoevolution.com/news/michael-caine-learned-to-drive-on-the-set-of-the-original-italian-job-film-135429.html

Maybe a difference between knowing how to drive and actually having the license.

Yeah probably.
I recommend Mike Leigh's excellent TV movie-plays Abigail's Party and Nuts in May. I don't even like plays very much but these were a nice surprise to me. Both feature the adorable Alison Steadman and well-crafted, understated English humor.

Was it ever cleared up the "She was only sixteen years old!" quote? I remember reading a discussion in the Brydon and Coogan special where they impersonate Caine, one guy said the line isn't spoken in GC, and no one remembers if its from Get Carter, Harry Brown or Alfie.

This guy claims it's from an early Get Carter trailer and an 80s vhs version. Questionable story without proof. I don't know anything about alternative versions of Get Carter.

It's a well known enough film you'd think even the old 80s version would be available, maybe just on a private tracker.
>>627
The 70s really was a golden age of bong media.
Why would he say that line in Get Carter? It's been a few years but I don't remember a teen girl in the story.

More like European.

Other European nations were protected by different languages or being part of the USSR until the 90s.

France lost its place as the cultural capital of Europe and was competing with America's "culture" in the 80s. The language was getting Anglicized as far back as the 20s which led to modern policies such as French radio must have at least 66% French music.

The fact they actually took measures to fight it is a pretty key difference. Modern bongs are starting to even speak like burgers which is disgusting. For example a younger relative of mine used bugs in place of insects recently.

>bugs in place of insects
I didn't know this was an American thing. Interesting. To me, using 'insects' casually sounds a bit weird
Replies: >>637
>>636
Opposite here. Bug sounds kind of childish which is odd as usually the bong/commonwealth english version is the less formal name.
>>635
I'm speaking of culture which is relatively a whole other bag of worms not language and while British English is hardly better you're right that the American English language has infected every language it's encountered, for example in Russia it's extremely common to use a transliteration of an English word rather than the a term that exists for it.
>>627
The old "TV plays" (usually from BBC) are fertile creative ground with a good stable of directors, sometimes reaching the quality level of a standalone film.

Here's a better version of Nuts in May

After watching you might enjoy this discussion of the film with Neema Parvini (aka Academic Agent on youtube) and Frodi Mitjord. Mitjord is surprised this film does not have a larger cult following due to its quotability. Parvini outlines three different way to read the events of the film.
