Post comfy pics, sets, stories, etc

One of the comfiest /lego/ moments I've ever had
>Bit of background first - I love KKII and had managed to find 8873 (one of the few I didn't have) BNIB on eBay for £9, including postage
>The night before its supposed to arrive it snows a lot - so much so that its shin deep by the morning
>Get the rest of the week off work, fuck yeah
>Hear a knock on the door around the time the post usually arrives
>Postman has braved the weather to bring me my parcel
>Get to relive a part of my childhood while building the set, just reminding me of better times back when I'd spend all day adventuring with those rainbow knights
Pic unrelated to the story but a MOC I find comfy

I've seen this several times before but each time I do I'm always amazed how you were able to make such an expressive story using only [honking sounds]

Thanks, I always try to put a lot of physical implication into posing when I can

How can I achieve more organic look of lego?
Replies: >>228

What do you mean by organic?
Replies: >>231
>>228
You know, to make the figures/animals look less sturdy and more vivid. I feel like I always miss some aspect, but I'm not sure what it is.

In terms of building or photography? I guess if you're trying to build organic animals, using smaller pieces that aren't blocky and not having any studs showing would help making them feel less Lego-y. Also avoid showing any mold lines or similar marks that makes it feel more toy-like could be another way. For photography, I'd say positioning them in ways that they would naturally be in, especially avoiding keeping them in static positions. Whenever I take photos I find it helps to try replicate the pose with myself, seeing if I find the pose to be natural or not.

I made a couple of tutorial images that show some basic concepts about how to pose and shoot minifigs to make them more lifelike.

Here are a couple others I made as well. I have better lamps than the ones in these pictures.

Paradisa was wonderful, I've loved the whole pastel tropical vibe since I was a kid.

Also, motherfuckin' ICE CREAM. This was the first (and possibly only?) theme with ice cream printed plates that looked like the flavour scooping buckets you find at ice cream shops. And dolphins! After years of sharks from Pirates sets, getting a dolphin was the best.

My mother-in-law gave me this set (used, opened) for Christmas a year or two ago. It was complete except for one of the 2x2 ice cream tiles. Paradisa is definitely one of the best Town themes.

That was a good contest with some great entries. The dark forest reminds me of KKI - was that intentional?

The relaxed beach atmosphere and the pastel colours really make this comfy. All the minifigures are just relaxing, enjoying the sun and pursuing their hobbies.

>>411
Did she just have it lying around or did she specifically look for the set? Either way she sounds like a lovely mother-in-law

An anon posted these in /lg/ and I thought they fitted this thread. The slightly over-saturated colours and the blurring round the edges give it a dreamy, fantastical tone. Maybe I'm just looking into it too much

I think that may be a bit of editing, but for the rest the dude has a crazy sharp camera.

Doubt r/lego will give a shit since it's not some highly detailed MOC or a Millenium Falcon, so I'm reposting my comfy little sauna here.

KK was near the end of my dark age, so any similarity to actual themes, current or retired, is purely coincidental.

A couple of adjustable three-bulb pole lamps and this little Canon

Upcoming Monkie Kid cartoon, counts as comfy to me. Love the art style, the studio working behind it is also pretty excited about the whole thing. Kind of wish they'd do all the future LEGO cartoons like this, no more awkward 3D.

I had a dream last night that I was in a lego store, it was like there was some sort of convention in a mall or similar and the lego store was seemingly a part of it, maybe some kinda event, it looked kinda dark inside and there were some guys reading in there and browsing lego sets and making comparisons and stuff

Its been thick with fog so I can barely see the opposite side of the street and raining for 3 days straight. Feeling very comfy just sorting my pieces and listening to the pattering of the rain on my roof.
