What was your last purchase, anon? Just got this haul - 8 World Club Magazines, 2 Bricks 'n Pieces Magazines, Bionicle #1, loads of catalogues from 1997-2001, and A4 and A3 posters. Got the whole lot for £10 and I'm pretty chuffed.

Picked this up for £4 (P&P was £3.10) completely sealed and in good shape for a 12 year old set. One of the best finds I've had on eBay, even beating getting Ogel's fortress BNIB for £25 (goes for about £100 on Bricklink)

Classic Space doesn't deserve to be there and neither does Pirates if I'm being honest. Classic Space is incredibly boring design wise - literally just plain grey spaceships with a blue streak and a handful of recoloured spacemen. Not to mention Classic Space fans are so easily placated - remember them losing their minds over Benny's Space Squad or the orange spaceman? Pirates would be a good choice if it weren't for the fact Lego has released an updated version of the theme twice now and piratefags got their holy grail last year with Barracuda Bay.

Bionicle is a shit choice because Lego is releasing a single set and Bionicle sets comprise of single character. So either Lego are going to release a massive multipack of characters (highly unlikely) or it's going to be something with system integrated in, like those minifg-scale playsets or the failed Ideas diorama. Even if Bionicle gets actual figures, the chances of them getting pure Technic builds and not cheap CCBS  garbage is even lower. Also I find it amusing that the only chance Bionicle has for something to commemorate it's 20th anniversary is a (presumably) shitty set that's designed to mark Lego's 90th anniversary instead. I guess if they're lucky they might get an anniversary tweet from a Lego designer, those poor biofags.

I didn't vote but I would've gone with Adventurers, Alpha Team, Time Cruisers. Because if any of those choices would've won the sets would've most likely been a big temple/pyramid, evil villain secret base, or a set that has a little bit of everything for everyone.

Because Bionicle remained as one continuous theme and story that lasted an entire decade while themes like Castle and Space were sold as "burner" themes that lasted a few years each, separately, under many different names with little to no continuity to one another.

I think chroming pieces is costly and supposedly bad for the environment, not to mention the chrome eventually flakes off with wear, so I can see why they'd change it to something else. But holy shit is pearl gold so awful, the colour is so unbelievably inconsistent and doesn't look half as good as chrome gold. Pearl gold looks and feels so cheap, like something from a bootlego set.

The chemical by-products of chroming stuff are hazardous but I don't know how Lego chromes their pieces. They may use a different, non-toxic method because they are toys intended for children though, but I guess Lego will never reveal it.

An unused idea for road plates created back in the late 1960s/early 1970s. It's been released as a teaser for the upcoming Secret Life of Lego Bricks book which promises a wealth of never-seen-before stuff as well as plenty of behind the scenes on the company. Sounds really interesting, but the book will cost £50/$75 and you have to purchase it through a kickstarter-type website so it won't see a general release after and the amount of copies printed is limited to the amount of pre-orders.

On a side note, one of the pre-order pledges gave you a rare prototype element, limited to 500 copies.

On an unrelated note, VIDIYO could've been perfect if they just added an Incredibox-like app that integrates with VIDIYO. Let kids use pre-recorded samples to create their own songs, instead of the garbage selection they've got going on now.

I mean the designs aren't stupid, there's clearly some thought behind this whole app integration which becomes visible with the stage sets but also with the special protective 'beatboxes' to protect the minifigures and tiles while kids are traveling. (Of course, COVID fucked this up for wave 1...) But the music selection is AWFUL. Small library, some of the worst songs ever on there. (Surprisingly no Nickelback, guess LEGO's trying to protect children from trauma.)

Wave 2 bandmates are to be released in October, by the way. After that they can keep the app users (Yes, kids use it. I think it's because of social media addiction) occupied with updates and 'new' songs until they actually have something new to release.

But that's just my optimism talking, if anything I'm already satisfied with the unique minifigures and the fact there's been ZERO stickers in the entire theme.

I got a Lego rabbit (it's been sitting in the store for a year) last week and I put it together last night.
It turned out pretty neat. Nice articulation from a non Technic piece.

The little flower that was part of the bunny set made me get interested in the Lego flowers sets. They look pretty neat.
