ARE YOU TIRED OF THE DUMB EDITS MADE BY NICK DOERR? DO YOU WANT TO HAVE MORE TOLERABLE DIALOGUE? WOULD YOU LIKE NEPTUNE TO NOT SOUND LIKE A RETARD?

RE;BIRTH 2: RETRANSLATION IS HERE TO FIX THOSE PROBLEMS!!

With Retranslation, say goodbye to bullshit like Nep Jr. and say hello to the new dialogue that won't make you cringe!

Grab it here: http://www38.zippyshare.com/v/tIs913kq/file.html

THERE MAY BE SOME SPELLING ERRORS OR TEXT THAT DON'T FIT IN THE DIALOGUE BOX! IF YOU FIND ANY PROBLEMS, REPORT THEM HERE
Tried it out for a little bit, noticed that Cancel appears in Japanese. That's the only issue I've noticed so far, will play more when I get the chance, since it's pretty late here.

Looked into it

It can easily be fixed by replacing the Japanese text with English above it, but I'll probably upload another version with fixes soon

Forgot to mention the file that is causing the error is kitserver.txt

Downloaded immediately, even though my toaster can't run any of the Re;birth games.

HUGE congrats for everyone involved in the project, from those pushing for it (the old guard of /v/, from Blancanon to Gearanon) to those actively working on it. It's because Neptunia has such an involved fanbase that I was able to grab this file.
Where do I put the file once I've downloaded it?

This is the first time I've tried something like this and I don't want to fuck anything up. And I really don't want to play Nick's crappy localization.

There are instructions.txt inside the zip file anon

But anyway, you put it inside the Neptunia Re;birth2 folder

Its me again.

I've downloaded the file and extracted it into my Re;Birth 2 folder in steamapps, but its not giving me the "retranslation" like it says in the instructions.

Am I doing something wrong? I've tried clicking "kitserver.exe" yet all I'm getting by clicking it is an error.
Replies: >>1402

What's the error? Perhaps you extracted the folder into the Neptunia Re;birth2

You have to extract the contents of the folder inside the Zip into the spot where the .exe for Re;birth2 is located

Step by step:

If you're using WinRAR or something
I'm hoping you get it

Image 1: Open the file and it should open WinRAR, and double click the Neptunia folder inside

Image 2: Highlight everything inside the Neptunia Folder

Image 3: Go to your Neptunia Re;birth2 folder in Steam

Then drag and drop everything you've highlighted inside the Re;birth2 folder you've opened up

The more explainations, the better. Also, maybe spread it to sites like GBAtemp if possible (dunno if they have a PC section, but it could interest them for the Vita one), as they enjoy that kind of work.

I think we can just replace the current link for now, I believe the service we are using will memory hole files after a month if you don't touch them anyway. Although that brings up the question of an LTS solution…I am personally looking into additional storage/download options but the method we are currently using works for now.

After v1.1 hits I'm not sure how frequently Re;Translation 2 will be updated but I am sure it will be every so often. However RB3 is going to be a very large project, so I see a lot of work going to that for a while when it drops.

Any new comments will show up in the comments tab. Do bear it mind that this will be a bit slot, since there are over six hundred pages in the docs. I recommend using chrome to edit it, and even then you'll have to let it sit for awhile before it'll load.

We are planning on separating rb3 into different docs to work around this issue.
Replies: >>1477

Yes, it's a bit slow, so Chrome or Chromium is the least troublesome way to edit it from what we've found sadly.

RB3's sheets are going to be a bit more split up between multiple docos to avoid that.

I know LibreOffice can batch convert. At least in Linux it's just a simple commandline function, it might not work that way in Windows.

Actually if someone could go into that document and nuke all the old text that we fixed, the shit in the margins we kept for backup purposes, that would be great…that seems to cause a spot of bother, too much to keep around anymore.

Try running with the 4GB patch or directly from the EXE for a start. Running it through Steam itself seems to create no end to problems. I did that earlier and noticed a downtick in crashes and janky gameplay.
>>1515
I've also done this, and there's a problem: it doesn't want to load the world map. I've got a black screen with tow dogoos and the text "loading" on the bottom right corner, but that's all.
It works perfectly in dungeons.

I've done that too, and I have a serious problems: the game works in dungeons without any problem, but if I start it with the re;translation, then it refuses to load the world map. It just says "loading now…" and nothing else happens.

Is it possible to make a kitserve.exe which just replaces the original files? I'm content with never facing the works of Doerr, so not having the original translation is not a problem for me.

>If you are a Linuxfag doing this I'll make the assumption that you can figure out how to do this on your own with the supplied documentation.

What's the point of using Linux, if I don't even try to break the system? I think I'll write down here if I had to figure out something on my own, so that others don't have to bother with that. Although I might be the only person in history who'll do this whole thing.

I actually think there's some merit to having a Kitserver-free installation of the patch, but obviously distributing whole game files won't fly on Steam. I guess one could organize something that's a bit more fiddly, some sort of patcher that either automates the tools or directly patches the game files some other way.

Anyway, I'll be very interested to hear your experience.
>>1586
>>1600
Yeah I had exactly that problem, as >>1596 says the correct solution is to repack it.

Only took about 5 mins once I worked out how to use the packer. There's probably still merit in fixing kitserver, there's clearly something it didn't like about my set up but I'm happy enough that it's working now.

It's super easy to make it work once you know what you're doing (I wasted a lot of time trying to unpack and repack the whole thing from scratch, but it's much simpler than that).
