Anons,

As that one anon that's been working on the Infinity Cup for all this time, I feel like the boards that were set to participate deserve a bit better than radio silence. For those that aren't caught up or need a quick rundown:
>The Infinity Cup is a virtual soccer(football[divegrass]) tournament, with its roots dating back to the earliest days of 8chan
>It takes place in Pro Evolution Soccer (PES), a virtual soccer franchise from Konami
>I took on the responsibility of organizing the 5th iteration of the Cup back at the beginning of this year
>Over months, I learned how to mod PES to put in each board's respective team and run simulated games between them
>Using pre-existing guides (many not in English) I also learned how to mod the game from an aesthetic and quality of life standpoint, including crowds, referees, stadiums, balls, and even rudimentary player models
>24 boards agreed to participate, and the Cup was scheduled to begin August 9th
>On August 4th/5th, we received word that 8chan was losing its host, the site went down relatively shortly after
>With no site and no functioning central hub, the Cup was postponed.
>I disappear for about a month
>I return in October
>We still don't have a site, but we do have a webring.
>You are here.
The whole point of this is to see if anyone still cares at this point. There was hype for the Cup. Yes, some boards cared much more than others but there 24 willing boards and we had the resources to run the Cup. I put in probably far more work on my own than any sane person should have, so I don't want this all to go to waste. That being said though, if we set a date, gather the required parties, and begin streaming the Cup and 6 people show up, I'd rather just not do it at all. I'm going around posting this on every participant board that's here on the webring and I'll try to get this up on 8kun somehow. In the meantime just post in here so I can get a sense of interest from you.

Took me a bit to find you guys since the board isn't named /y2k/ as of now. Personally, I've always considered 1996 onward to be part of the /y2k/ aesthetic, because the whole scare was building up over those years.

Count us in.

I actually have some good ideas for anthems and mascots and such.

Roy (the guy pictured in the banner) can be our mascot

I've got some good ideas for 90's and 2000's tunes we could have as the team's anthem
Replies: >>184
>>180
Also, we can keep the flame shirt design for the uniforms that the old /y2k/ had.

Our team's anthem should be changed to something different, since we're covering both the 90's and 2000's.

I'm suggesting "Blue" by Eiffel 65, since it's one of those early meme songs that came out near the end of the 90's, but was still popular in the early 2000's.

Song came out in 1999, but still got a good bit of airplay in 2000 and 2001

Alternately, "All Star" by Smash Mouth can be the team's anthem and "Blue" can be the goal horn.

>>183
We'll be keeping everything major that was set up before, so you'll definitely have the flame shirts. If you do want something minor, like the anthem changed, it can be done no problem.
Replies: >>185
>>184
Well, then I think the anthem should be changed to "All Star"

- Won their last Cup on a Winnie the Pooh goal at 90'+4
- Undefeated since losing to /bmn/ on January 12th (8 game streak)
- Current Golden Boot leader in St. Peter
- Yet to concede a goal this Cup
- Just try and stop them

/b/
- Finished second in Group B, behind /a/
- Conceded only 3 goals in 4 games
- Have yet to make it to the Semifinals in their history
- Play what is essentially a 7 man backline (5 backs, 2 DMFs)
- Dubs Guy had only scored 3 goals coming into the Cup, currently sits 2nd for the Golden Boot with 5 goals.

Quarterfinal Preview
/kind/ vs /bmn/
Primers
/kind/
- Finished top of Group C
- Returning to the tournament for the first time since the 2015 Winter Cup
- 4 different goal scorers this tournament (tied for most among non-eliminated teams)
- Fan favorites include Gold forward Anti-Bully Ranger and the ever-joyful Kirby (non-medal DMF)
- Bronze forward Tender Hugging (4 goals) is currently tied for 3rd in the Golden Boot standings

/bmn/
- Finished second in Group D by virtue of a tiebreaker loss to /u/
- Conceded only a single goal across 4 official games (3 in 5, counting the tiebreaker match)
- Their 4-1 victory over /monster/ in the Round of 16 was their largest victory in team history
- Defeated /christian/ in their last Cup appearance, and followed that up with a shock upset of /a/ in the Round of 16.
- /bmn/ have improved with every Cup appearance: Debut Cup saw them lose in the Round of 16, next Cup ended with a Quarterfinals exit. Is a Semifinal berth in their future?

Be kind, rewind your shitty movies. Quarterfinal 2 goes Friday, 12:30 CST, 1:30 EST. This game and the rest of the Knockout Round will be shown on https://cytu.be/r/8cup

Hey guys, /icup/ here with a question on how we're going to handle the next iteration of the Infinity Cup ( https://anon.cafe/icup/ )
We're trying to poll whether certain boards are interested in playing in the cup, or if there's some specific team that you'd like to see play. If you want to, please answer or add your own answer to the poll in https://poal.me/6x3j1u
This is spam. Ignore.

I've just checked out their catalog and it seems they'll be having another go at the competition soon(ish). We used to play as /y2k/ back in the ole cup, but I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in this, at least before I give them the word to add our team. I mean, I will probably watch it regardless, but I thought it might have been weird to tell them to add a team just for one person.
Replies: >>2235 >>2238
I remember rooting for it, shame their formation sucked and they got rekt. However this implies that the three of us that check this board once a day, if that, will be willing to make a competent team.

heavily modded PES soccer where each team is a board with custom jerseys/anthems/goalhorns/models compete in a bracket match to be ICUP king.
>>2234
We can just use the OG team and change the formation a bit. I frankly know very little about soccer, but from watching the cup, it seems to me that matches can go either way even with highly popular teams.
>>2233
I would love to watch it, just don't change any players or songs, because that y2k team was fucking perfection.

Hello /retro/,

ICUP 7 is still being worked on, and progress is still steady, but we need your help. If you have a good PC enough to run PES 2017 and to stream it, or if you are willing to commentate, please contact us at anon.cafe/icup/. Currently we have three potential streamers, but the more the merrier.

In regards to your team, it is currently valid. For extra fun, I recommend uploading portrait images for each player (to replace the empty icons in the Game Plan view) here.

They will be square (transparency encouraged) and about 75x75px in game, so consider pictures that will look good when downsized.

You can also try and find 3D models in case we have extra time to add them.

Finally, if you are capable of doing 3D modelling, creating OC, working on the wiki or just helping in any way possible feel free to reach out as well.

After a disastrous draw stream that started an hour late, we now have the group stage draw.

I'm not seeing any of the predicted rivalries. Group B appears to be the Group of Death.

Here is the test/draw stream, be warned that it starts off horribly due to a missing noise reducer on the microphone.

Fair warning, this is a PeerTube instance, so if the P2P bothers you then click My Settings on the left, then unselect "Help share videos being played" (you don't need to login). This isn't necessary for the stream, just the replay.
