Before the grand Sith-storm:
Jedi order sweeps galaxy for Force-sensitives, who mostly end up not reproducing.
It drives the whole “light side (except-there’s-only-Force) / Dark Side” tug-o-war.
The nu-Sith edgelords actually worth a damn tend to be their students turned to “heresy”.
The last (but not least: remember those “voices screaming in unison”? It reflects in the Force!) problem: the greatest organization of Force users is a bunch of arrogant, self-righteous mind controlling assassins… which probably affected the common attitudes toward them and Force users in general. The second greatest group of visible Force users are mostly ranting bloodthirsty lunatics. The likes of Revan don’t pop up in every other generation, after all.
After Anakin’s misadventures:
The Jedi order is destroyed. The surviving Jedi are those who managed to blend in, they remember and can teach techniques, but cannot possibly see the traditional Jedi hubris as desirable or even sane.
Most “Sith” emo-butchers are destroyed as well.
The most famous and respected Force user (and also Anakin’s descendant) now (after facing both “certain point of view” and Palpatine) without a good reason won’t trust followers of either tradition any farther than he can throw one.
So… is there a reason to think Anakin did not fulfill his supposed destiny of “restoring balance of the Force” mostly right (if not perfectly)?

I always felt it worked even when Luke's new order was reasonably sized, since it openly rejected a lot of the traditions that were traditions for their own sake and forced a lot to be learned from scratch.

Time to talk about blasters, slugthrowers, and other non-lightsaber weapons and designs. Which is the most practical, powerful or aesthetically pleasing? What would you take with you when the Day of the Rebellion comes and SHTF?

Superweapons are also allowed but only the weapon, all fleet discussion goes in the ship thread.

The entertainment droid's holoprojector started up, bathing the previously dark room in the blue light one normally associates with a cheap holoprojector. The three dimensional image it created showed a Zabrak male with his dark hair in a ponytail sitting at a table in front of a strange looking and time worn blaster rifle. The red geometric lines tattooed on the presenter's face identified him as a trained engineer, while the ones made up of black swirls marked him a historian. The holo was then joined by an audio recording of the cheerful man's lecture
>Hi guys. Thanks for watching another holo from Forgotten Blasters. I'm Ilit Mak-Cuth and I'm here today at the Hydians Auction House on Chandrila taking a look at some of the blasters they are going to be selling in their upcoming auction. What we have here is a standard Republic pattern PulseWave blaster. While at first you might be thinking "They made literally trillions of these things, how is that a forgotten blaster?", but it's actually very rare to find one in such good condition these days, thousands of years later, so I thought this would be a good example to make a holo on it and show you guys.
The camera focused in on the ancient blaster, hiding the Zabrak and the table from view. Now suspended on air, the floating, glowing, weapon slowly rotated around in the dark room, inviting the viewer to soak in every detail of the valuable anti

 >designed to deal with blaster bolts
Common pistols/carbines are one thing, but… We have seen a single hit from high-powered blasters (like Han’s “Imma outlaw on the run, no time to shoot you twice” piece or Leia’s holdout) even to chest plate result in a mission kill (though not confirmed fatality).
> and kinetic stuff
Shrapnel from blasters hitting anything solid seems the most common type of “deadly projectiles” in SW, so yes.
Slugthrower projectiles presumably are comparable, though not omnipresent.
Add to that NBC and electronics. But all this adds weight. Which is why…
>perforated by arrows launched by teddy bears
Again, vulnerable spots. These suits don’t include overlapping solid protection on all sides. Wasn’t one stormtrooper dropped by blaster shrapnel to the rear of neck joint (when Leia hit a wall behind him)? So the plate (white parts) may well resist anything short of high-powered blasters or sledgehammer grade impacts to the head. The joints (black parts) are much weaker.

What's his tax policy?
A mixture of off hand rulling to nationalization and confiscation of assets
>There were also certain increases in the state control and centralization of economic procedures. This included the nationalization of commercial enterprises like the Trade Federation, the Techno Union, the Commerce Guild, the Corporate Alliance, the Hyper-Communications Cartel, and other commerce within the Empire. In addition, one of the first actions of the Empire was, upon nominating Gahg to Minister of Finance, to completely annex the seized holdings of various defeated Separatist worlds, which had been nearly completed a few months later.[8] The InterGalactic Banking Clan managed to avoid the fate of its co-conspirators and wasn't completely shut down, though the Empire exerted a considerable degree of control over it. The Empire would also go on to nationalize the Fondor Shipyards around the time of the Battle of Yavin. This was due to complications involving the construction of the Star Dreadnought Executor, though the Fondor Guild of Starshipwrights would remain in place to oversee the project.[9]
>The Empire continued to nationalize some corporate entities, but such actions were primarily reserved for those companies which were part of or supported the Confederacy of Independent Systems, and later those which favored and aided the Rebellion. The Empire did assume direct control over some of the spoils of war from the Separatists,

So most of time it was left to planetary/sector level to decide the tax policies
>Palpatine deployed one Moff in each sector. These officers were supposed to efficiently govern individual sectors and regions of the Empire. Though Imperial governors and Moffs were dispatched to oversee many of the planets and sectors of the galaxy, they largely maintained a policy of non-interference with respect to local politics.[6] The vast majority of the planets within the Empire maintained their own sovereign governments and everyday life for an average citizen was not very different from the days of the Old Republic, especially for those who strongly supported the New Order. However, if the Empire desired to obtain resources from a particular planet it would not hesitate to take it by force. Planets which had their governments entirely supplanted by an Imperial governor were usually Non-Human or those who supported the Rebellion.[7][5] Additionally, the planets located between the least restrictive areas of the galaxy, the Core Worlds and Outer Rim territories, bore the brunt of Imperial authority and scrutiny.[6] Overall, less than one in 80 planets experienced some sort of modification to their local governmental procedures or had members of a ruling body removed from office to better conform to the will of the Empire.[6] Other planets which were discontent with Imperial rule were kept in lin

Versions of old games that actually run on modern computers is the only good thing to come out of Disney Star Wars, and they only do it because they fucked up new video games with closing Lucasarts and giving EA an exclusive license. Maybe DF2/MotS after this, since they're even more of a pain in the ass to get running.

more like a Source engine port. They did that for the systemshock 1 remaster.
I would prefer a full-fledged remake of both Dark Forces games in the JK2/JA engine with a recreation of these cheesy DF2 cutscenes and a higher budget.

But I don’t really have anything against it, either. I'm not into retro shooters, but I've heard Nightdive has a good track record when it comes to these things.

>Han colded blooded killed Greedo
And that is where you are wrong, Greedo had a blaster on Han the whole conversation, even if Han shot first or second it wouldn't matter since he killed Greedo in self-defense.
Replies: >>6339
>>6336
It did make a difference, since one thing is to shoot preemptively, Han was actually delaying Greedo by making him talk so he could pull his gun and put into position to shoot him dead, another is Greedo actually shooting at Han and them he acting in self defense
https://starwars.fandom.com/wiki/Han_shot_first
> The change was due to Lucas not wanting Han to come off as a cold-blooded killer, but rather acting in self-defense, with one rumor stating the scene, in its unaltered form, risked giving the entire Special Edition a PG-13 rating, thus limiting the audience for the theatrical run.
>In a February 9, 2012 interview with The Hollywood Reporter, George Lucas indicated that Greedo fired first, even in the original film, and pointed out that the exchange of blaster fire between Han Solo and Greedo was shot in close-up which made the scene ambiguous. This ambiguity, along with viewers' desire for Han Solo to be a cold-blooded killer, caused the audience to draw the wrong conclusions; that is, they only thought Han shot first. Wide shots he added in later releases of the film served to make the actual results of the encounter more obvious.[6] The suggestion, coming several years after the first occurrence of the alleged "change,"

The only scene when he would be a cold-blooded killer, would be if Greedo is NOT pointing a blaster at him.
Replies: >>6344
>>6340
Yes it's self-defense, but Han shooting first gives him a harder edge that he's supposed to have, in order to complete his arc as >>6335 said.
and as >>6339 said, the sequence shows that Han was subtly reaching for his gun, delaying and distracting Greedo until he could take a shot. Clearly the intent was there, so it makes no sense for Greedo to shoot first; you could almost say it "subverts expectations". It also reflects poorly on Greedo, who I think was a professional bounty hunter, not an amateur. If Greedo shoots first, and misses at point-blank range, that makes him seem like an ineffective retard, whereas with Han shooting first, he just got caught off guard by his quarry. And for Greedo to shoot right after confirms him as a serious challenge to Han, and his miss is understandable if he took a blaster bolt at the same time he squeezed the trigger.

While I'm on this topic, I remember reading Tales from the Mos Eisley Cantina, a compendium of short stories which varied but were generally pretty good. Greedo's story was a mixed bag -- I really dug the backstory with the clan wars, Navik the Red, all that shit was cool. However, I hated how they characterized Greedo as a newfag retard who got played for a fool, set up to die by his enemies. It just didn't fit the original scene, at all.
