I'd guess a mix of foreign media being more present than ever and gyarus are having a resurgence. Foreign media exposes a type of beauty that isn't standard Yamato nadeshiko, which in turn makes gyarus more popular as gyaru is a counter culture to the Yamato nadeshiko culture of beauty. Also gyarus are stereotypically extroverted and slutty, making them somewhat popular among introverted otaku.

Watching first eps of a dozen or so shows. A few shows I'm enjoying.
>Puniru wa Kawaii Slime

Bratty (and cute) slime in need of correction. It's a funny and fun first ep. MC is bothered about his crazy slime girl friend who just wants his attention. The animation was surprisingly good at times and the characters are entertaining to watch. I hope it doesn't lose steam as it continues.

Great OP aside, this the first episode was very entertaining. The setting and characters makes me think this is like a more raunchy Earthbound. The animation and scene direction was also insanely good. The first ep was fun to watch all the way through.

The 2024 Ranma turned out to be a total letdown. I wrote posted a comparison with the old one in the dedicated /a/ thread.
https://smuglo.li/a/res/1217402.html

My favorite this season is Yakuza Fiancé. It doesn't have the prettiest female lead but at least it brings something new to the table. Right from the start there is character development. And there's blood. For some reason all the other ones below don't have that. “I'll Become a Villainess” has a kid beaten up but they can't show blood anywhere in the show.
It's like everything is getting ever more pathetic and constantly trying to lecture the viewer about morals and democracy.
Yakuza Fiancé on the other hand does not. The protagonist makes serious decisions that differ from the norm without turning the whole anime into a comedy.

The other shit this season is just the same generic template crap as last season:
>I'll Become a Villainess Who Goes Down in History
She's helping people, so in the end the title and her self-declared ambition is just a lie.
>Hoshifuru Oukoku no Nina
Female main character was an orphan and now is a princess but it's kinda boring and what you expect.
>Kimi wa Meido-sama
Protagonist gets send assassin maid to serve him. She never did anything else and now learns to enjoy life. Absolute cardboard cutout shit.
>Good Bye, Dragon Life.
Dragon reincarnates as human and wants to live with a Lamia, so obviously he has to fight de ebil RACISM, so that she can live in his village.
>The Do-Over Damsel Conquers The Dragon Emperor
Bitch escapes bad fate by manipulating some powerful man she initially doesn't like by saying she loves him. Template shit. Seen it a thousand times. Don't even need anime for this, you can see and experience it irl.
>Matchmaking of the Amagami Household
Feels like the attached still image is the most you'll get out of the entire anime. All of the characters seem generic and unmemorable. Didn't even bother watching much.

And worst of all: There's NO ECCHIS this season. Just garbage. That's right, all those dating and harem anime I just named are all just blueballing shit that don't even show a nipple. They are not sexy, appealing or at least heartwarming.

Feels like there hasn't been any good harem in a long time, Matchmaking of the Amagami Household just seems like a tamer version of Tempuru (which also didn't have any ecchi). Harems don't have to have ecchi but the last couple of harems this year have all been such cookie-cutter shows that with no ecchi there really isn't any point in watching it.
>Raise wa Taning ga Ii
I thought this would leaning more towards josei but the story felt much closer to shoujo romance but with adult themes and animation. So far it's been good but I can see it doing more shoujo tropes with the brother(?) in the coming episodes. Currently in my top 3 for the season. Also nice feet.

Just watched GUNDAM: Requiem for Vengeance so you don't have to. TL:DR, it was ass and boring modern Cali slop that you would expect just from looking at the cover. I'll just greentext as it's not worth a proper review.
>Takes place during the 1 year war. It's from the view of Zeon forces on Earth and starts with Zeon getting their convoy ambushed by Feddies.
>Zaku II are deployed to save them. Here comes MC who's a female mobile suit captain with the mental illness California haircut. Wait why the hell is there a female mobile suit pilot, and one that's a captain during the 1 year war? Female pilots and soldiers were barely even a thing in general during the One Year War.
>The whole cast is DIVERSITY. 2 black guys, 1 Asian guy, 2 white women with butch lesbian looks who act either stoic or spout out witty Marvel humor lines that aren't funny. Don't worry, there's 1 white guy and he's an incompetent idiot who will be shit on to prop up the FemC.
>Right before the Gundam arrives to kill everyone the Zeon forces have a speech. Not a single SIEG ZEON for that speech, or even the whole movie. Probably because "Muh Nazis" and we can't have that happen to the good guys.
>Gundam (this is not the RX-78-2, but a new unique Gundam) shows up and starts wiping the floor with everyone. Both white guys dead immediately, who looked like fags anyway. It'll all the diversity crew from here on out.
>Through the movie, multiple times you have it where the Gundam is about to shoot someone and just gets interrupted at the last second to the point you just assume no one will ever get killed.
>For some reason this is full of Gouf Customs. The Gundam somehow wins a 2v1 against these and they never use their heat rods once. Probably because that would have just killed the Gundam with ease as they stunlock it to death with electrical currents.
>The horrible pink haired girl with the nose ring and tattoos who just makes quirky Marvel writing jokes all the way through almost gets her own people killed by trying to brute force through a checkpoint, covered by tanks, with just a few vehicles without weapons. This is never brought up and treated as nothing.
>Gundam pilot is possibly FemC's kid for some reason. Wait, why would a kid be a Gundam pilot anyway? This isn't Amuro, so there's no reason they would make him pilot a Gundam. They would just give it to an ace pilot instead.

God there's so much shit to mention but I don't care enough to write down everything. It would probably takes way more paragraphs. It's just shit with nothing memorable about it. They tried to put some JP faces behind the production team to mask the cancerous Netflix Commiefornia writers who are actually behind it. Not even Transformers was this shit.

>2 black guys, one asian guy, 2 butch lesbian white women
Now granted, Zeon always had a little bit of "diversity" (In that they had officers of multiple different races, Indians like Ramba Ral, Japanese like Shin Matsunaga, even Arabs like the confusingly named Desert Rommel.) and some women (Granted they were mostly promoted out of nepotism like Ramba Ral's wife being made his adjutant or Char getting his loli gf a commission through the newtype program)

>Not a single SIEG ZEON for that speech, or even the whole movie.
Gay, at that point why even make it about Zeon? But then again, anything evocative of fascism or nazism is a magic spell to these people. If you sieg heil three times Hitler comes back like Beetlejuice.

>For some reason this is full of Gouf Customs. The Gundam somehow wins a 2v1 against these

I saw the first 4 episodes of Trillion Game and Loner Life in Another World now.

Loner Life in Another World is a manga adoption and everything I've seen so far I've already read in the manga.
I dropped the manga pretty quickly because it's boring, so I dare to say that it's progressing REAAALY slow.
Anyway, he'll make a classmate harem (in that they live together) but I don't even remember them hugging or kissing.

Trillion Game is a typical gambling anime. They say outrageous things (if you win i'll be your pet!) and make funny faces when they win or loose despite it being super predictable.
The narrator also tells you what's gonna happen in the future to make sure there is absolutely no suspense.

I guess the slop is watchable if you shut your brain off.

I tried to shut my brain off and give that Loner isekai a chance but finally had to drop it this week. It's utterly uninspired formulaic garbage. A "loner" who actually isn't such a loner gets all the top video game skills and people crawl at his feet for assistance.

Up to the moment I'm reading, he explicitly fucks two female dungeon master slaves he picked along the way, and the part with female classmates is kept at him making them all kinds of tailored clothes and underwear, which usually includes them fainting overloaded with pleasure from his magical touch when he takes their measurements and them all eavesdropping and magically peeping at his threesome orgy happening every night at the inn they all are staying. >Alicia is the eldest daughter of the noble Williams family—a bloodline that excels in dark magic. Her jet-black hair and golden eyes command a powerful presence, but her most unique features are, without a doubt, her sharp tongue and malevolent nature. By all means, she is a villainess, but also a fictional character from an otome game! As an ardent admirer of Alicia, a young, unnamed woman wishes to be her. Fortunately, a sleepy truck driver grants her wish in a bizarre twist of events—killing and consequently reincarnating her as a seven-year-old Alicia inside the game. With sufficient knowledge of how the game plays out, "Alicia" is confident that she will go down as the greatest villainess in history as long as she endeavors to work hard. However, she soon begins to realize that escaping Alicia's fate is not so simple as it seemed.
So I thought at first from the description that this was going to be a sequel to that level 99 autistic villainess animu from a couple seasons again. But no... it's just almost an exact copy of its premise from the other story. I knew isekai/videogameworld mills were getting braindead, but seriously... What in the actual fuck?

Yes, I think there are one or two anime with a 100% identical story: reincarnated into a villainess then becomes a good person and gets all the husbandos
And of course there's this boy the pre-reincarnation villainess treated badly but now becomes a good friend.
>>108236
>the protagonist's main goal is to bully the sweetest girl she can find
Odd premise.
>do-over damsel
>villainess anime
>the healer is actually the strongest
>nina, the starry bride
There sure are a lot of shows with very young female love interests this season. Some shows, like nina's one and the do-over damsel, have adults romancing 9-10 yo girls as the focus of the show. The male mc in the damsel show even explicitly, clearly rejects a pretty, devoted girl because she's older than 13. I don't remember this ever being as prominent before.

Since it has an adult cast, with a plot about marriage AND a deadline of one year I assumed that it would be fast paced but so far it's been going at an incredibly slow pace. The second episode introduced an antagonist (sort of) that still hasn't been mentioned beyond that episode, a bunch of side characters were introduced (all of which will probably have their own romance plot) but they haven't really had any screen time beyond the second episode. With that being said the current arc just ended and I believe the pace will finally pick up.

Oh, new Yakuza Fiance episode is out. I'm probably gonna watch that after reading some manga.
I'm quite enjoying this fictionalized retelling of Copernicus and the development of geocentrism this season. In real life the Catholic Church didn't really have a problem with it until Galileo's dispute, but they're really playing up the repressive inquisitions for storytelling.

The bigger struggle of the scientific resolution was no so much to get out of the Church's shadow, but rather to stop imagining that the ancients were right about everything and that every discovery was merely rediscovering the wisdom of Aristotle and Galen.

>>108115

>Contradiction with the bible
Because Christians aren't muslims who think their holy book was literally given by god, so any contradiction is blasphemy?
The bible is the word, and the word is of God, but not from him. The natural world is from God, and so studying it, in the Christian mindset, would be to glorify God by trying to understand more about His creation.
Again, as opposed to Islam where presuming to know the works of Allah is blasphemy.

The mindset had changed since then, but why deny the truth. Compare another issue that's totally different now from the past. Namely, euthanasia. In some period of middle ages most knights had carried with them a special dagger called misericorde usually with a triangular cross-section of the blade and a flat pommel (to hit it with a flat of your hand for stronger armor penetration effect). It's official use was to stab the neck of a suffering knight with zero hopes of recovery from injuries (like guts leaking from his belly, for example) to send him to heaven as painlessly as possible.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Misericorde_(weapon)
What is the current stance regarding that issue, huh?
Same with reliance on the word of God as absolute truth.
Still at it, huh?

Geocentrism doesn't actually contradict much in the Bible. It's true that there's several passages that talk about the sun and moon rising and it's written that Joshua made the sun stand still, but these can simply be ascribed to a matter of perspective.
>>108711
Also this Christianity/Islam juxtoposition is silly, Islamic scholars in the Middle East and north Africa made a lot of important discoveries about the natural world in the Medieval period until Europe finally caught up during the Renaissance. In fact it was Islamic scholars that preserved the works of Aristotle, and some even disputed the Ptolemaic/heliocentric system.

That was Giordano Bruno, but he wasn't burned necessarily for championing the Copernican system (though he did). He was persecuted for espousing a kind of pantheism arguing that every star was like the sun and must have planets, and that there must be other worlds like Earth governed by their own god. He was also persecuted for believing in reincarnation and metempsychosis. He happens to look a lot like one of the characters in this anime, not sure if that was intentional or not.

Galileo, who did a lot of other scientific pioneering besides lending further support to Copernicus's geocentrism, was put under house arrest for the rest of his life. The reason Galileo recanted was probably because of the memory of Bruno a few decades earlier.

Didn't find any of the magical girl shows interesting but I'm glad we're moving away from the edgy magical girl shows that were popular some years ago. Seems like there's a boom of mahou shoujo that is more adult oriented now that the kids that grew up watching precure are all adults.
There sure is a lot of animu lately about an entire classroom getting sent to another world. That type of story is pure escapism, and the pressure to fit-in in a typical Japanese classroom must be hellish. Imagine how much backlash would that generate if allowed to let loose far from the eyes of society (like for example for soldiers during a war in a foreign land, let alone being stranded somewhere without a hope of returning). Guess what prompted kikepedia to have this paragraph in the page about suicide in Japan:
>Cultural tolerance of suicide in Japan may also be explained by the concept of amae, or the need to be dependent on and accepted by others. Japanese people value acceptance and conformity above individuality.[34] As a result of this perspective, one's worth is associated with how one is perceived by others.[35] Ultimately, this can lead to fragile self-concept and an increased likelihood of considering dying by suicide when one feels alienated.[34]

On the Movements of the Earth!

Great job to everyone involved, it's nice to have a deeply intellectual story for once that makes no apology for it. The author really did their research on early Enlightenment philosophy and theology. It's so weird to see a story this European come out of Japan.
