Why don't japs dub their own anime? Is there such a shortage of japs that have learned fluent or at least semi-fluent english? Would it somehow be unprofitable?

Who would distribute that legal content outside Japan then? Cultural differences and all that shit, not to mention credit card companies making life different for anyone they want just because they could.

If I had to guess, the song in background is part of either “Nazca” or “Miko Acrya” from the OST album “Sound of Nazca”. Both use the same base theme. If I had to guess, it’s likely a keyboard or a synthesizer producing it, but I do notice that the soundtrack credits do list a Tanaka Ken (田中健) as playing a quena for at least two song on the OST, so maybe it’s imitating that? A quena is a wooden flute found in cultures of the South American Andes, so it would be a fitting instrument to directly have or at least synthesize (though why synthesize if they already had someone to play it?). That's the only "wind" sort of instrument I see listed for the soundtrack. It’s hard to say for certain though, as Sound of Nazca apparently doesn’t give a per-song breakdown of credits (unlike "Sketch of Nazca", which neither song is on). Maybe someone who knows moon can say if one of these development pages says anything regarding the process?

How is Nazca on the whole anyhow? Had the thought in the back of my mind since learning it was the source of that clip in the opening to Malcom in the Middle.

While on the topic of music, here’s an instrument question of my own: does anyone what is the "wooden"-feeling popping sound in these tracks supposed be from? Heard this in more than a few works from the 2000s era. I suppose it could be synthesized as that was pretty common back then, but in that case, what would the base instrument it's aping be?
Any manga reader here? Have you ever cosider that there are some manga that are tldr in most of the pages? Like wtf, just get to the point already. Nobody cares about some other background story of another company in past or, a text wall of history story telling in form of dialog from a character conversing with another character. Sometimes I wonder why there's an anime of this unpopular series in the first place. The premise of the story is quite interesting but because of there are so many text in the manga, people just want to know wtf is going on in the story without reading all these unrelated tldr crap.

For instance, I'm reading this The Two Sides of Seiyuu Radio and I still couldn't understand why the fuck is this blue hair cunt being so mad in all the sudden. Then she went on keeping her grudge on the blond girl for whatever reason she could think of in form of wall of text. If I were that blond girl, I would have grab that blue hair cunt in the neck tie and pull her right in my face. and say

WHAT THE FUCK IS YOUR MOTHERFUCKING PROBLEM BITCH, JAPANESE MOTHERFUCKER DO YOU SPEAK IT!
Replies: >>110176
>>110172
I read Blue Lock and there were so many times where the most insignificant background character got a whole page worth of text that had no value to the story, I think mangakas are afraid of letting their drawings tell the story sometimes. And perhaps it's a bit of the translation increasing the length of the text because of contextual words having to be added.

In your mind, are women better or worse than men at writing yuri stories?
Replies: >>110302 >>110304
>>110301
And why. I forgot to add.
>>110301
Women are just shittier writers in general and the one absolute top best yuri writer is Ken who happens to be a guy, you don't need more arguments than those. In terms of yuri art, though, right now it's not easy to compete against Itou8 or yukiko and the same goes for yuri character design, out of the top 3 in my generation I think the top 2 were women. So maybe they have an edge there, but it's all circumstantial and pretty useless as info, there is tons of amazing material with both genres as authors and the point is to enjoy everything that is good.
Listen, anon, the author and context of a work are no more than a tiny little minimal bit of context, they can help you understand a work a bit better if you need it but are otherwise completely irrelevant. Any other thought on the matter is just hacks and grifters trying to scam you.
In the words of a very competent writer from my lands, "don't try to know the author of a work you like, enjoying foie gras doesn't mean you should go and see the gander it was made from".

Saw this idea brought up while watching Game Center CX and have to ask. Is this “monster/yokai/hideous person trying and failing to shop at a convenience store” a reasonably common writing topic in Japanese media, or perhaps referring to some sort of cultural in-joke?

It’s not the first time I’ve seen it come up before, such as in Kouya ni Kemono (see Makura’s reasoning here for why her peers dislike her, being that she actually can peruse convenience stores due to looking more human), but at the same time, I haven’t seen it enough to tell whether or not it’s a bigger thing, or if both authors simply hit on the same topic as a coincidence due to relatability to the viewer/reader. Trying to look it up online hasn't proved helpful either, and generally just leads to news on convenience store promotions of youkai/monster themed products, Yokai Watch having its own convenience store chain, and some manga called “Yokai Konbini” which debuted a few years ago and thus wouldn't be the source (not to mention it seems focused on a convenience store ran by yokai rather than humans).
Replies: >>111030

Them totally failing to use common stores and human stands was one of the easiest ways to spot a pranking tanuki. Because they were around at other times, but were good enough to not get caught until they tried that. So you'd have more chances to spot them in a store like that. It was probably adapted from the common stories of older "youkai" visiting specialized homes of dedicated professionals, like blacksmiths or butchers, and then developed nowadays to conbini and expanded again to other youkai that live near humans instead of just tanuki. In the middle it also developed those stories about youkai and tanuki organizing their own specialized stores and festivals, for their own, because you know they can't use humans'. That central part about tanuki and youkai failing to use human stores has been around since forever and in great quantities, it shows up in some of the oldest tanuki stories ever registered. And it all probably comes from marginalized people, of different races or ethnics or invalid or whatever, not being able to use biz inside their small tribes and villages. Which is common in early nip conquests with so many different small groups being around, there are many old stories of that too. That's the only thing I can come up with.
So, modern reverse-isekai elf waifus struggle to shop at DAWSON... Oh look, a paki!
Replies: >>111031
>>111030
I see, so even regarding ones with otherwise decent shapeshifting skills, they'd still present tells that they weren't actually human, even if it was something cultural or regarding knowing the process of shopping or whatnot rather than something explicitly physical? Kind of surprised I didn't see this sort of explanation come up when searching, but then again maybe said modern things that came up like Yokai Watch and Yokai Konbini have served to dilute results regarding it that might have more readily showed up before.

I dreamed I got isekai'd to a generic low quality isekai world, then I saved the kingdom and the world and everyone was happy. When the princess asked me what I wanted for a reward, I told her to lick my armpits which I didn't wash while defeating the demon lord, so they had 3 days of stale workout sweat. It took some convincing, but she eventually licked my hairy armpits clean.

I'm sorry anons, I just had to get it out of my chest.

If you want more dreams, you need to be waking up during the REM phase of your sleep. If you want less dreams, you need to wake when your sleep goes into deep phase (NREM). Some new alarm clocks can spot the difference and adjust the timing in boundaries set beforehand. Only the last dream you have every night could be remembered in the first place (/autism).

This image makes me wonder how many kings, emperors etc. might have regularly summoned hundreds or even thousands of virgin girls to gather and fill a bathtub with pee for the king to bathe and make love with one of them in. That would be one of my highest priorities if I was in that position. It's also the kind of thing that would likely be erased from all records a generation or two after that king died.

Someone just dropped a crunchyroll web DL on nyaa. Image quality and subs are slightly better than previous releases.

I've watched 4 episodes so far and I'm enjoying it. From what I've watched so far it's a very low budget adventure of the week show that looks like it'll get an overarching plot later. Most of the characters are cute girls, which I like to see. The episodes so far have been largely original which is nice, I'm at a point where I see a scene or an individual episode's adventure in a fantasy anime and I can tell where I saw the same thing elsewhere, but that's not the case for the individual stories of each episode and most of the scenes within them.
