Since /animu/ is pretty cool about /japan/ stuff I thought I'd make a /mu/ thread about various Japanese music ranging from
>Traditional
>Jazz
>Classical
>Rap
>Hip hop
>Experimental
>List goes on
I've been listening to a lot of Daoko who raps in a whispery way that can go into a jazzy hip hop at times and EGO-WRAPPIN' which is a jazz band that has some pretty good tunes. Anything to add /animu/?
This video on why Ghibli music sounds pretty is a pretty educational video that shows just how deeply rooted trad Japanese music is even in modern music in Japan

That's fair, since minimal music isn't as familiar to most people, but Joe Hisaishi used to be big into minimalist and electronic compositions and this influence shows in some of his earlier scores. To me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sgjwiadze1w sounds like Nausicaa's soundtrack, for example.

Marty Friedman quit Megadeth so he could play some Japanese music, which I think suits his playing very much, especially given his weird ass vibrato.

A little late to this one, but I really enjoy the band Boris. Classic doom and drone metal stuff mostly but they have put out some solid experimental stuff too. Each album feels like it's at least a little different. I saw them live and it was pretty solid. I would almost argue they sound better live.

Their new album also had a video shot in the venue I saw them at so, that's pretty cool.

Speaking of this video, seems the most interesting bits were sourced from https://japanhistorymusic.weebly.com/japanese-music-theory.html and the website mentions Toru Takemitsu, who's pretty good if you can stomach 20th century classical music. The only two pieces I've heard of his are November Steps ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UC_T4_HxTb4 ) and Nostalghia (yes, this is in homage to Andrei Tarkovsky: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dhyp68JazHM ), and if they're to your liking you can easily find more through Youtube searches, looking around online, and watching Ran (which he scored).

My love, I’m leaving
On a train east
I’m going to look, look
For a present for you in that vibrant town

No, darling
There’s nothing I want
I just want you to come home
Without being stained, stained by the city’s paints

My love, it’s been a year
And I still can’t see you, but don’t cry
I’ll send you a popular ring from the city
It’ll suit you, you

No, star diamonds
And pearls sleeping in the sea
Surely don’t sparkle, don’t sparkle
As bright as your kisses

My love, do you still go bare faced
Without even putting on lipstick?
Look at this picture, picture of me in a suit
You won’t recognise me

No, I liked you
When you lay on the grass
But the wind is cold around the high-rise buildings
Take care of yourself, take care of yourself

My love, forgive me
For forgetting you and changing
I can’t, I can’t go back
To the street corner where we spent those cheerful days

Darling, I’ll be selfish one last time
And beg you for a present
Please, send me a cotton handkerchief, send me a cotton handkerchief
To wipe my tears

I've been stuck with Shazam or SoundHound for music saucenao as well. For some reason they won't let you upload audio clips to their website or even just use a mic like their shitty mobile apps do. It sometimes works, but some songs are way off and I get recommended some shit that played on radio recently and sounds nothing like the song I recorded. (It has to be paid sponsorship.)

>searching for lyrics
That usually fails for me on more niche songs. It's almost impossible for nip songs because romaji yields nothing, while pages in kanji might not be related to the song at all or yield clues I need. (Might help if you can read kanji. I'm stuck using page translation addons.)

Se would call him by weird couple names and like be affectionate about im in er posts. Se was like 19 during the time and iirc 8 or 10 but he was young. Of course the stans defended her on twitter saying its a very close bond they have but from what i gathered the dude from super junior never cleared it up so she was probably grooming him.

It seems like KPP's camp must have gotten in touch with him. I have found a tumblr post talking about it though with 4 images of proof of her being a shotacon. https://archive.is/x68s5
It seems that P-Chan was from Tempura Kidz

Oh yeah, japanese jazz is excellent. Anime-wise, Sakamichi no Apollon is a culmination of this cultural exchange. Showing that even though the Japanese lost the war, the Americans gave back a few things to remember them by and foster an everlasting friendship between the two nation that lasts to this day. Sure, it's not a perfect friendship between the two nations but sure does produces gems such as these.
All that said, Cowboy Bebop has always has been the prime gateway into japanese jazz.

Now you're just trolling me because I complained about videos with bars, don't you. Nay, probably just a youtube rip, and for some reason youtube uploaders are that retarded. Well, in the past this retardation probably helped them survive the older retarded youtube algorithms that searched for copyrighted materials, so it's possible that retardation helped them to fight retardation, and is it really a retardation then.

This board unlike /a/ will most likely like some old fashioned /jp/ autism on a singer. This particular brand of autism revolves around the singer Milet or ミレイ or allegedly by Nip anons & Western Taiwanese autists Takayama Mirei, who has now become a breakout singer/songwriter since 2019 to the point where she can collaborate with singers like Aimer and Lilas. Little was know about her other then she spent most of her life in leafstan Please Nuke Canada till coming back to Japan in 2019 to have a music career, Not much was much know about her till a bunch of Nip and Chinks dug stuff up on her. What they found out was she was a Niconico fag known as Rascal who took great pleasure in trolling and baiting the more /r9k/ tier members of the site, Sony seems to have done a decent job on hiding her past as a troll as places like /jp/ on cuckchan never brought this up or knew about it. A few anons in places like 5ch and users of Bilibili are bum bothered that a former troll like her was able to become a famous singer and get away with her trolling of betas, what is the most curious is the usual places which this would spread like wildfire haven't brought this up either at all or very very little.

Tl;dr
>Breakout newcomer Japanese Leaf singer Milet was female troll know as Rascal
>Who drank the tears of Japanese betas on Niconico
>Sony did media blackout of her past
>Even when Nip and West Taiwan autists dug shit up on her places like cuckchan's /jp/ never spoke or wouldn't speak about the situation which makes it even weirder
>Autists are upset Milet/Rascal escaped justice and is enjoying a highly successful music career while soyny music covers for her
Well /animu/ I hope you enjoyed this obscure /jp/ autism I found randomly.

I don't know where to search for music, I barely leave this place.

I plan to make a thread of "you have 30 seconds to show that a music track is good", where you cut 5-30 seconds out of the track, and then post that and track itself. What's a good software to cut a few seconds out of a music track? I used Audacity, but they added weird telemetry in the app, and I guess https://github.com/tenacityteam/tenacity is the best fork?

Discogs lets you find all sorts of music from just about every genre, musicbrainz is decent but not as expansive as discogs imo.
RYM and last.fm were good at one point, but them along with cuck/mu/ became groomer trooner cesspits in the last 5 years or so.
There are also massive archives dedicated to various genres (Progarchives, metal-archives, etc.)
If you wanna be really autistic, just look up the liner notes for various releases or even interviews and see what artists are namedropped, that's how I formed my tastes and interests very early on.

I don't know about psychedelic rock as I haven't listened to it much to really pin down what it is. Have any examples? As for ambient, I may have something but I think it's more akin to old JP folk than ambient.

It's been a while since I last listened to Koronba, but damn has he ever disappointed me. His music is eternal and fills me with hope, EVERY SINGLE TIME. A lot of great fan projects too, Koronba like songs are still being pumped out every day. All it took was one talented musician to start an internet cult dedicated to him.
