Evidently it is what made the last thread an hero for better half of a year. 
I really liked the war arc but it dragged at the end after the Dabi reveal. It had individual cool moments but putting them together like this kinda sucked. Mirio appearing was stupid and Compress committing self-mutilation was cool but I don't think it amounted that much for him as a characters. I do think Compress needed something and I'm all for this but simply showing him off and then instantly shitcanning him leaves a bad taste.

The content after that is.. Well, its the biggest jumbled mess in the whole series. It presents some of the best ideas so far then falls down the stairs continuously all the way down to the bottom floor.
It started off really strong, with Deku actually leaving the god-forsaken school and actually had his character trying to understand villains and what caused all this. I'd say everything leading to and including Nagant was really good. The prison break chapter is one of my favorites in the series and I really liked Deku communing with the AfO spirits. Having Deku actually conceptualize why villains are the way they are and stating that he has a duty to try and save them but also understands that at some point he has to put them in the ground is the logical next step for his character. Him facing off against Muscular as an example of a meathead psycho villain and then with Nagant which was basically a depressed nihilistic glownigger was great. It showcased what Deku was talking about in action. He even got to interact with Overhaul and gave him basically an impossible ultimatum for him showing that he is not gonna be soft on people.
We also saw him for the first time actually connecting with the citizen instead of everything being isolated incidents.
The issue is afterwards when everything became a continuously more and more disconnected sequence of events. The idea that he was fucking killing himself was good but in the end Deku didn't learn to care for himself and was basically strong-armed back to school. This was extremely disappointing and it basically showed an instant regression of the story and invalidation of the events prior and the worse part was that it was done with the worse fucking element of the series which is the school and students (students as a collective specifically because I still think some of the character are enjoyable and great on their own and when outside of the school setting). It was like a train going strong and then it suddenly accelerated to mach 5, derailed, fell off a cliff and then quantum superpositioned back to the train station like nothing happened.

(cont.) As for the traitor, well, it was kinda of a shitty double fake out if we consider the Aoyama chapters from way back. Don't get me wrong, it makes perfect sense but going "he is the traitor, no he is not, look she is the traitor to actually he is actually the traitor" was kinda pointless, especially with the, to be frank, disingenuous panel of Hagakure at the end of the chapter. I don't think it was played particularly poorly, beside them just getting randomly caught, but I do think that blackmail is too much of a safe option. I do like that Aoyama is portrayed very realistically here though.
Also Starn'Stripes happened. I mean, I liked her, I really liked her, both her quirk and character. I liked her fight with Shiggy as well. But like villain hunt arc it started off with a really good idea and kinda resulted in nothing with the most boring outcome. She dies and her quirk disappeared. Like she never existed. At least so far.

Last chapter has my hopes up though even if the series is supposedly ending this year. We finally got back to something interesting plus the utilization of cool imagery helped as well. I do like the direction being taken with Spinner and am waiting and hoping something fun and interesting comes from all this build up of Shiggy's mind and body rape. Then again last year's first chapter was the prison break what do I know

In short: 0/10 , the bunny only had one panel.

My issue with the series is that it cannot commit to anything since the Ovenhaul arc and just some questionable decisions all around..

Since arguably the end of the Raid arc Hori has backtracked, nipped or tried to shorten a story that has been setting itself up for a longer story the past 5 years back to a short one.
>Shigaraki's development as a villain and leader
LOL who cares AfO is back and now Shigaraki has to be saved instead of confronted as the monument modern world's sins. His hatred for the world is just a means to an end.
>Manpower of the MLA and all the resources and named characters that come with it.
They lost, Shigaraki runs off with even less named characters on his side and the story is trying to convince the reader his manpower is even more dangerous than before.The villains should have won the raid and the status quo would make sense.
>HPSC and Hawks being shady
The current iteration gets whitewashed almost completely and all the bad stuff is shunted to her. Only black mark on Hawks is Twice's death.
>Endeavor being a monster to his family
He gets whitewashed and Dabi gets turned to dirty brotherkiller and annoying whiner and completely irredeemable psychopath with no comaraderie. Also Shoto hasn't done jack shit in his own family drama since Izuku keeps stealing all his lines and moments.
>Hero system is flawed
Even the worst of them are do or die and are fighting to the bitter end.
>Practically everything from the Overhaul arc being gone besides Eri.
A whole year in the trash and 80 chapters along with it. 
>Izuku trying to move past All Might or doing anything new with his character
Izuku gets seven more Quirks, time gets dedicated to learning one of the new quirks and the rest are simple on/off affairs and learning them was time skipped. Shooter style and kicks might as well have never happened.

She folds over and renounces everything she's preaching because Izuku spouts another diatribe about heroing harder solving everything.

He finds jack shit, he doesn't pay anything for it and the matter gets addressed roughly 5 chapters after it's been brought up and gets brushed aside. The cure for this is bringing up nice things Izuku did for them as proof of friendship rather than treating those things as the foundation of one.,
>Society falling apart
Izuku goes back to school and it's out-of-sight, out-of-mind as far as the heroes are concerned. All the problems of the world solely exist for and areAfO to take advantage of them and things will be better once Izuku punches him hard enough.

Art is great as ever but I genuinely dont care for any character and Izuku is just a vessel for the AfO vs OfA grudge now that he has 7 different fucking voices in his head as mission control that have to share screentime with everything else moving at light speed while stretching out meaningless shit like the school tech and an out of nowhere Clappistani hero with the stupidest power imaginable.

It's startling how much of a better job Hori does writing villains than the heroes  when they're not post-raid AfO. Heroes get pages of exposition while the villains get emotional imagery properly expressing their issues and mental states.

The problem with superheroes is that it's all a facade that falls apart if you take half a second to think about it. Baizhuo support gun control but are also against discriminating against mutants, who in a lot of cases are just people with the ability to kill more people than someone with a gun could. It's a thin veneer, and the problem with MHA is that it tries to address this hamhandedly. IRL a cute blood sucking girl would have idol status, a reptile human would be appreciated for potentially life-saving blood, etc etc. It's set up in a way that tells a story while trying to make sense, except superheroes and supervillains never made sense.

In the end its a shitty shonen jump manga made by a guy that couldnt write himself out of a paperbag. I mean the manga is almost finished at this point, and we still don't have a definitive answer on whether or not people's personality's shape their quirk, or if the quirk shapes the person.  Is toga a tragedy of a cursed quirk that drove her mad, or is she just naturally fucked up and her powers reflect that?

The best way to do things is to just handwave them as genetic mutations like X-men and not explain the plotholes with AFO and OFA.

I wouldn't go that far, as Vigs is a simpler story with not as lofty ambitions on a bi-weekly/monthly schedule with focus being on the community and how people other than heroes and villains go with life.

Though I do heavily prefer it at the moment due to not being stuck on a school, different character relationships and varied characters while showing fun stuff here and there. There being regular patrols rather than every thing outside the school happening being a big thing helps and makes the thing almost cozy.
 Not flubbing arcs, wasting time on meaningless characters and rushing the ending so that previous buildup gets nipped in the bud and having a cast(especially the main character) that has been used effectively helps.

Endeavor has two characterizations that can be split with Pre-Kamino and Post-Kamino. In the Sports Festival Endeavor is treated as an extremly effective hero but a monster to his family and how his ambitions have hurt them and the quintissential example of what Stain was against.
With the flashback he's now someone that made a deal with his wife's family and still managed to have a decent home-life until Dabi turned out to have shit fire endurance.
He was still treated as understandable, reasonable and emotionally reacting to things going worse rather than treating his family as tools something so horrible Shouto's mom got mind-broken from producing 4 babies on short demand. It has now completely undermined Shouto's development and decision to join his father's agency to learn and embrace his Quirk and now his mom is just a bitch.Endeavor is a better character for it arguably, but Shouto and Dabi have too little going on for them now that the tension between Endeavor and Shouto is gone and Dabi has been shown for being a completely irredeemable shitter. Effectively this resulted in Endeavor having very little blame for the whole affair besides giving birth to them in the first place.. 
There's a clear disconnect between the two personalities and with the flashback Endeavor had been turned nicer and nicer to the point of making his behavior in the Sports festival as cartoonish and bizzareWhich is arguably the whole start of the series in comparison to the midpoint and onwards.

Bullshit. Even back in the sports festival we saw Endeavor being supportive of Shoto and genuinely cared about what Shoto thinks. He was simply blinded by his own autism. He genuinely thought Shoto was just having a tantrum and was shocked that Shoto used his power but still rejected him. During the Stain arc he genuinely felt betrayed by Shoto when he ran off to help Deku. He clearly cared about Shoto not just as a tool. Muh post and pre Kamino comes from the fact that that is where we start getting introduced to his side of the story and its the biggest eye-opener for him.
Plus I had the feeling from way back that Endeavor was never outright malicious. But he isn't faultless either despite the image of Dabi muddling it for some people. Enji clearly loved and cared for his family but he also relentlessly followed his eugenics program. He wanted to have his cake and eat it too. His desires contradicted and in the end his choices led to everything falling apart and he became a manic mess, the family was torn apart and Toya went insane. Endeavor is still completely at fault for making the wrong choice out of a vague ambition he never actually had a reason to strive towards. Plus he unintentionally put all of the children in a competition with each-other and it was one where everything was predetermined at their birth.  
Rei is at fault for being completely passive and complacent but otherwise she also went into psychosis because everything was going to shit and she couldn't handle it which isn't really her fault. Toya also didn't go evil for no reason. He suffered from the same condition as his dad in fact - he couldn't comprehend complacency and simply settling with what you have. Endeavor is the driving force and everything bad still stems from him even if he never intended for everything to go to shit.
The fact some people think that somehow Endeavor has been downplayed is beyond retarded and is completely based on false assumptions and perceptions. Not only is it assuming he was worse than he actually was prior to the reveal but is now downplaying what he is actually at fault for. 
I don't agree that Dabi has nothing going for him. He is basically doing everything wrong his dad did and showing the same traits as him down to his unrelenting ambition. 
Shoto has been forgotten and basically relegated to plot device though.

Endavour shouldnt be even a thing, it takes the screentime off the protagonist and main plot >plot .
Or the other way around, the focus should be more on him to make him and drama around him part of main cast.

I say the way the Sports Festival frames him heavily disagrees with that notion. I suppose I worded it incorrectly, but I genuinely think Hori went too hard with how he behaved in the Sports Festival in comparison to how he'd be later down the line even in the Stain arc.

I misworded it, butRei was an active participant and willingly cooperated. The Eugenics program would not have been malicious as he been training Touya seriously and seemed relatively fine with it. His problem was not being able to talk to Touya and Rei was too busy raising the other children and things escalating from there.

It's not that Hori did a shit job connecting and was too heavy handed in his flashback panels.Quite the opposite, they are the strongest drama in the series since Shiggy's backstory, but I think it does create a farther rift between Pre-Kamino and Post-Kamino because the series was a lot simpler then and a lot more childish for better or worse.
Hell I'd say it was a lot better handled than Aizawa suddenly not expelling students left and right in a shonen manga about the best of the best super-cops with there not being a disconnect.

I genuinely have the impression that Hori was aiming for a very different character and was significantly expanded on after Kamino and the change in tone for the series. It resulted in the best character in the series, but it came at the cost of Shouto and Dabi.Speaking of which

I think Hori decided to show any personality from him too late and it resulted in him being too malicious and disconnected. It makes sense to an extent, but Dabi should have had some encounters where he'd be hammier instead of making him a practically non-entity for most of the manga. At the moment we have a backstory where he's not a complete victim and the result of said backstory with a blank-slate as an inbetween with no ties or goals outside the Todoroki drama. It's not helping that this new personality had little more room to breathe in relation to everythign else as we're already in the finish line. The Toga chapter was one but I think a few more would have helped.

One is properly unpacking it's finale while the other is trying to hurry to the finish line after multiple questionnable decisions, including making the last half-decade practically worthless. One goes through it's plotlines and the other pussies out each and every single time when push comes to shove. As a result of current state of things and their relations to compare and contrast with there's natural reasons for this comparison.

The main series started great and now it's  it's just good due to Hori going balls out on art but writing is much more severely flawed. It's grander ambitions before deciding to shut them down and inability to actually decide what it wants hampers it in nearly every catergory outside of art. People were really invested due to the setup being good, but the poor payoffs and Hori deciding he's sick of this shit takes out a lot of the goodwill that has been building up to this point at least for me. Izuku barely being a character despite the dispoportionate focus and time drawn from other, more interesting characters and having nothing to show for it is insanely hurtful to the series.

By comparison the spinoff is a lot more relaxed and despite some writing issues, nothing feels like a waste of time in the endother than the Aizawa flashback. Arcs have been used efficiently to establish relationships or set up plotlines. It's not a masterpiece of writing but for what it is, it's a solid read if you can handle average art. I'd say it's more than the sum of it's parts and it knowing what to actually do with it's protagonist, antagonist and extended cast helps it immensely in that regard and as a result it ends as a fun read rather than a frustrating one for those that bothered to stick around.

I try to read both as fun rides and try to judge them on their own. Both have problems, but one has major writing ones that leave me unsatisfied so far while the other does not, at least not to the same extent. One sets itself up and promises as something grand, only to devolve to the current chapters while the other surprised me by being surprisingly good for what it is.Admittedly the praise even the stupidest decisions of the main series might have left me with a hipster instict in regards to it.

The main series sets up character arcs it doesn't fully follow up on, devalues past arcs with recent decisions and inability to decide where to invest itself. It makes grand and sweeping statements about the nature of heroism, villainy, power, the upsides/downsides of making celebrities out of lawmen and the nature of society only to answer that everyone should just Plus Ultra by the end of it all. Vigs knows what it is, what it wants to be and executes it, it knows what it wants to do, what it'll be and it goes through it. It's not airtight but I find a lot less questionnable things within it overall and the lesser expectations for it leave me pleasantly surprised.

Guilty as charged, but it's more of a result on how both set out to do and how it goes about it.
One tries to pretend it has something to say for the world, builds itself up to something greated for 5 years and decides to make it's antagonist a strawman because it's sick of trying anymore  and the other admits it just wants to tell a fun story in a fun setting and does it competently. Vigs stands on it's own two feet competently enough besides an arc made for a twist that hurt both it and the main manga to be enjoyable in it's own right.

I could mention other issues as how it keeps ending on fake-out cliffhangers(sometimes outright fucking lying), how it pussies on killing characters it should have killed(Nagant, Gran Torino, fucking All Might himself), how it creates issues only to correct them around a chapter later for an excuse to waste time only for it to rush to the finale.

Since the Raid arc it has done nothing but stumble and it even had stumbles in it by the end stretch of it. Art is great but everything around it has devolved into a mess and the cliff-hanger shit has been a constant since the new editor took over.

The series has long-term issues it failed address or overcome and as a result they are now metastazing due to failing to tie them together. Whatever issues I had with Overhaul, AvB, Seven Quirks and MVA arc have been amplified knowing that they were doing very little to the story at large despite that being the very premise for some of them. This is especially egregious for MVA, as while was a good arc despite some issues, it was a means to an end that was soon afterwards run over by the Raid arc wiping out everything. Izuku going 100.000.000.000% Clapmerica Smash does very little for me anymore since he has done it nearly every one of the arcs outside and inside the school and Shigaraki has been rendered a screeching toddler in a cave that has to be pulled with a leash by the potatohead that gets pranked on by teens despite having a lie detector power established in the same chapter.
