Well what do you like about JRPGs? Is it the story? Because from a mechanical standpoint most turn based JRPGs are just Wizardry and Ultima, I suppose you could attribute some story elements to the average one that fit with shonen tropes though but then there's games like The 7th Saga (great game ruined by localization, has a fan translation that fixes the butchered difficulty scaling IIRC) that feel much closer in tone to a western RPG from that era.
