This is a thread to give some background on the illegal porn spam with links. I've seen some false guesses and claims going around on various boards so I figured it's time I made a dedicated thread to explain it. I have been a janny, mod or admin on a few imageboards for the past 10 years, and casually post on many, including anon.cafe for the last 4 (although less so recently). Those who use a few different sites at once, especially slower/understaffed boards, will soon begin to notice patterns. Posts which look out of place. Identical posts which look out of place on two different sites. Drop a quote from it into a search engine and it's on twenty different imageboards! It turns out there are a few spammers on imageboards, who go down a list of boards reposting the same post. A few years ago I made a bot to regularly check for new threads on imageboards and highlight any duplicates, documenting imageboard spam to find patterns and learn how to combat it. There are a few different main categories of this spam. One is imageboard spam (or sometimes forums or D#scord chats), many of you will have seen recent posts from two news imageboards, just posting a link to their site and leaving. Political spam is also big (almost always either generic /pol/ tripe, Christian evangelism or actual schizophrenic psychosis), and it's worth noting that politics spam was especially big around 2020 so there will probably be a heap later this year. This is easy to spot on hobby boards, although it often blends in unnoticed on politics boards and random (/b/) boards, where they're often taken seriously, and sometimes those spammers choose to just repost only on the dozen /pol/ boards online. There are some other smaller classes of spam, but we're here to talk about the biggest spam category by far: The CP spam is commercial spam. That's why they have links in them. They hit any imageboard they can find. Even test sites with no users. Different CP site owners have been doing this for at least 10 years, and probably ever since the internet went public. This isn't news to people who have been around for a while, but for fresh users on political sites it's easy to jump to the conclusion that its one person (some cryptic 'pedoposter' character), or their designated scapegoat or feds trying to take their site down. But this was happening before /pol/ was even a board on 4chan, and it was happening on even harmless niche hobby imageboards (which is where I started jannying ten years ago, to help delete the hourly CP spam until the admin programmed a hacky countermeasure). And they don't just target imageboards. This is commercial spam. They target any blog comment section or unsecured forum they can discover. You can verify this yourself by checking where the same ad link appears in a search engine. There are commercial/freeware tools made by organized crime companies for discovering and spamming unsecured forums, which brag about being able to break most captchas (and even 10 years ago you could pay $1 per 1000 Google reCAPTCHA solves by real humans in poorer countries, all plugged into your bot via an API). But there's an important point. The current ones aren't bot posting. These are humans, fresh custom-made captchas don't stop them. Simple post filters don't stop them ('post blocked, please try again' won't stop someone who is financially motivated). Anything that wouldn't stop you, won't stop them. And I say 'them' for good reason, you can verify both through basic linguistic forensics (typing styles, filename choices, filter evasion techniques, etc.) and by fingerprinting their user-agents that the same link is being posted by multiple spammers. Specifically, the current one with a child model on a purple background has the same link being posted by three distinct people, all from East Siberia and far North East Asia. They each have a list of target sites (some use imageboard lists like (historically) cc0's list or AllChans, others use custom-made spam lists with all kinds of websites on them, this can sometimes be confirmed by checking their HTTP referrers) and they go down the list, one by one, often clearly in alphabetical order, posting their garbage. They usually post on the first board they see, usually the first alphabetically or the most active/bumped board (which is why anons here correctly pointed out /comfy/ and /k/ were disproportionately targeted on anon.cafe), although they may also just have a certain arbitrary board saved (like lainchan's /zzz/, apparently), maybe because it got listed in a search first. I've seen cases where an imageboard has just locked their /a/ board due to constant spam and most of it disappeared (/a/ is first in alphabetical order, so on their homepage it was the first a spammer would click, so this wouldn't work on lynxchan/jschan's boardlist where they're ordered by activity). It's also important to keep in mind that CP sites come and go, and along with it, different spammers. There have been particularly nasty ones in the past which posted full nudes, link in the image only so the post couldn't be text filtered, random filename, and either no text or text copied from other posts. Phash techniques could be a useful approach there, and the Junkuchan admin has mentioned in the Cloudflare thread that phash filtering has worked well for them. Keep in mind, while it's possible in rare cases there is some CP posting which is different to what most people and I am describing, you can very clearly tell when it's different, the main difference being that malicious posters aren't shilling a pedo scam website. I have seen malicious CP posting only once, where a /pol/ user raided a site with child nude modelling photos posted from purchased VPS servers (this was done during a mass raid after the victim imageboard was linked in an active 4chan /pol/ thread. This was back in 2021 or 2022). That stuff tends to be either posted without any text (neither in the body nor the image) or with a taunt. Here is the monitoring system: https://xj9k.neocities.org/ It only monitors certain sites, and only OPs on some sites, so it's far from conclusive but it's demonstrative. Spam posts are grouped together under one detection (semi-automatically, so there are some small mistakes), it's worth clicking [Expand] and seeing how they differ over time and attempt to evade filters, or how the same spammer makes similar but different spam posts. Clicking the Tags button in the top corner (or clicking on a tag) will show you examples of the many categories of spam.

This was the first time I was just able to make it from memory. It felt great to be able to just reach for the ingredients and go through the motions. As luck wood have it, the prove went well and the slashes formed up beautifully. I was worried that the crumb inside wood be a little wet but it turned out berry nice with a good chewy crust. The loaf is wrapped in beeswax cloth now so I can eat it over the week. I'm considering getting a sourdough starter going but I don't know if I'm good enough to handle it yet. >my first attempt at glazing carrots Apparently glazing (which I have found out is different from caramelising) is a basic technique that even professionals find difficult to get perfect eberry time. I think my first attempt here had just a touch too little water and a touch too little sugar, though I reckon I got the butter correct. See how the finished carrots don't have an even glaze? Weirdly, the garlic I put on these pork tenderloins was stained bluish-green by the other herbs during the water bath, but they cooked down to a tasty colour during the two minute finishing sear. I think these two are overrated. Lars von Tryhard is an edgy kike and so are his movies. My games take place in a universe I've been building since I was in junior high - I can't remember the exact date this manifested but it has existed in some form since at least 2001. Originally starting as a mean-spirted anime parody I didn't know what to do with, thought I was gonna make a webcomic or an animated series but I decided at some point I wanted to make video games. Which, as it turns out, is really fucking hard, but I'm still in there trying to make these games happen. My most infamous project is GigaMaidens, the 'main event' game I'm building up towards - a 1v1 3D arena fighting game about giantesses who destroy cities as they fight. Obviously a grand project that is much too big to tackle on my own, so I have it on the backburner while I try to complete smaller-ish projects starring Kasha, a catgirl from the same universe as GM. Outfits/character customization options (so you can doll up your waifu)? A plot tackling issues plaguing the game industry in the modern day like GaaS, censorship, etc.? Fanservice? Or do you believe Compile Heart are beyond redemption at this point? Honestly, the situation in the industry has become so dire, not just for Compile Heart, but for their peers and "otaku games" (as they're called) in general, so a LOT is riding on this release. Probably too much for modern Compile Heart to bear. But bear it they must, because if this fails, I can confidently say they have no cards left to play. Their sales are in the toilet with recent releases not even charting on the Famitsu Top 30, so this, their ace in the hole, pretty much HAS to succeed or they're done.

It works well when I test my CSS in the "on the fly" settings though so I believe it may be a permission problem that prevent me to put anURL in my CSS. Please halp !This is something I meant to write since some time, but now the impending doom of anon.cafe finally made me actually do this. Originally this site was born as a tech demo after the demise of zchan, to modify jschan so it can run on multiple servers, for load balancing and maybe better ddos resistance. But the code never got merged upstream, so this site still runs a fork of jschan, originally on 3 servers, now on only two (and both of them at buyvm, so it's not much redundancy). On the other hand, zzzchan (probably the biggest imageboard running jschan) went with the original jschan and only using HTTP reverse proxies, so maybe this is overkill, after all. But anyway, whatever started as a tech demo pretty much stayed. Which brings me to the current state of this site, it's pretty dead. There's /nep/, which is a copy of the old 8chan's /nep/, but at this point it pretty much functions only as an archive, it barely has any traffic. There's /quest/, it had some activity in the past, but now it has like 1 posts per week, one half-dead quest and a couple of dead ones. And /finance/, it also had some traffic initially, but now it's also pretty dead. I also have two BOs who never log in, so I have to delete the spam posted to their boards. (It's not that bad, filters catch most of the spam, and since the site is so dead, I can just open the global recent posts page, and delete any spam. I guess a dead site has some advantage too.) In the past I didn't have any instructions on how to get a new board, because, to be honest, I didn't want to attract a lot of attention. I have better shit to do than dealing with courts and getting raided just because some anon said something on my site, or dealing with butthurt faggots ddosing my site. This site is not under cuckflare, and I'd very much like to keep it that way. On the other hand my gatekeeping was probably a bit too aggressive, even though I didn't do much (I think I only rejected one board). I guess just assuming that anons would randomly come here was a mistake. I'm also very bad at being proactive, if it's not already obvious. So with that out of the way, I'd like to open an official board request thread. Let's have a new thread without a tonne of broken images. Have there been any new forms of /retro/ media (could be movies, games, anime, websites, etc.) that wanted to look old and actually succeeded? There's an artist called BlueTheBone who makes "retro"-styled animations, cheesecake, and porn. Like any modern hack, he overdoses on visual clutter and uses filters that don't actually resemble the time period he's trying to emulate - but despite that, I think his style is consistently decent. If he relied less on computers and filters, then I think he'd be a much better artist, but that goes without saying for most contemporary artists. The really weird things happen when he tries to make modern character designs and media look old, like pic 2. It isn't exactly wrong, but there is something perplexing about viewing characters and series that were developed specifically with modern aesthetics in mind.

Ce concept ou cette idéologie qui est si effrayant et mal compris par beaucoup est simple, le livre le plus ancien que je connaisse qui explique cela est assez complexe cependant. Cependant, je sais que malgré toutes nos plaintes, nous aimons notre système et ne croyons pas en une guerre. Le Venezuela, le Mexique, l’Iran et bien d’autres ont eu des bains de sang ces derniers mois en raison de l’une des deux principales puissances contrôlant cette économie mondiale. Eh bien, la plupart des lecteurs de ceci penseront probablement « alors quoi, c’est triste pour eux mais je ne peux rien faire et la guerre ne viendra pas ici, mon pays est dans l’une ou l’autre des deux grandes alliances. » , ou quelque chose de très similaire. S’il vous plaît, n’oubliez pas que si la plupart d’entre nous ont un ordinateur puissant dans leurs poches, l’armée est bien financée et équipée aussi, et la dernière fois que l’économie était en si mauvais état, nous avons eu besoin non seulement d’une mais de deux guerres mondiales (bien que je les considère comme une seule avec une petite pause entre les deux). J’ai toujours été un rêveur et je croyais en l’humanité. Je suis sans abri par choix et je vois le bien parmi les humains tout le temps. Cependant, je vois aussi la démission, la peur et la dépression. Tout si profond que notre société est collée, nous savons tous que quelque chose ne va pas mais avons l’impression que nous ne pouvons rien y faire. Ma peur personnelle est que cette inaction de notre part à tous conduise au conflit mondial susmentionné. D’où ma proposition pour quelque chose comme un référendum mondial. Pour que cela fonctionne, les programmeurs devraient développer une application disponible dans de nombreuses saveurs, facile à installer partout dans chaque langue, peut-être même comme un système d’exploitation plus puissant, appelons ça la pilule verte pour l’instant. Cette application offrirait un petit résumé de ma diatribe actuelle et deux versions du futur, l’une dans laquelle nous décidons tous de prendre notre avenir entre nos mains et reconnaissons la nécessité d’un avenir différent, l’autre pour faire confiance que le système actuel durera au moins aussi longtemps que nous devons mourir. Si vous croyez en la première option, vous installez la pilule verte, partagez le message et distribuez les applications. Si vous croyez que notre système va bien et que l’humanité ne fera rien avec ses grandes bouches et ses jouets, alors prenez la pilule rouge et n’installez pas l’application. L’application elle-même, si installée, devrait être programmée pour détruire le matériel sur lequel elle est installée à une date donnée, par exemple à l’équinoxe à venir. Peut-être que des versions plus puissantes pourraient également avoir une sorte d’IA programmée pour pirater et infecter tout ce qu’elle rencontre (avec la permission de l’utilisateur, ce serait préférable, surtout sur un smartphone, car une telle fonctionnalité pourrait éventuellement vider la batterie très rapidement). Notre connaissance aidera, nos dépressions seront guéries par un sens du but au réveil. Les premières maladies comme la hernie sont apparues lorsque nous avons cessé d’être des chasseurs, des cueilleurs pour le luxe d’une maison et d’un champ ; nos jours, nous avons les connaissances nécessaires pour faciliter le travail sur le terrain et savons que nous travaillerions tous beaucoup moins qu’un plein-emploi à temps, si notre travail est simplement de vivre et d’assurer une certaine stabilité. Marre des flics qui disent qu’ils aimeraient avoir le courage de faire comme moi et quitter cette société. Marre que malgré avoir essayé de le laisser, la seule façon de le quitter pour de bon est de quitter toutes les personnes auxquelles je tiens pour toujours parce qu’elles sont dans des endroits où ce système d’esclavage moderne est en face partout où vous regardez. Marre des gens qui se plaignent mais ont trop peur de faire plus, espérant que quelqu’un d’autre règle nos problèmes pour nous. Marre de ces enfants adultes. La solution a été écrite, chantée, probablement même peinte pendant des millénaires, même parfois par des oppresseurs, de nos jours il y a eu d’innombrables chansons modernes, films et même jeux vidéo disant la solution. J’ai entendu des gens de toutes les catégories de revenus, qu’on appelle riches, pauvres, stupides, intelligents, gestionnaires ou agriculteurs, même des flics et des juges, ils l’ont tous dit à leur manière, le plus simple étant « nous devons revenir à l’échange de biens et de services ». Je ne sais pas si c’est la meilleure solution, mais je crois que cela pourrait être le coup de pouce dont nous avons tous besoin pour améliorer toute notre course. Anyone else here /retro/maxxing? I've realized there is no point in denying myself happiness and gigacoziness and I may as well go all in on my retro obsessions even if it's a bit weird. I could list a bunch of things I'm doing but I'll start with just a couple here >film photography I have never bought a digital camera and I have stopped being a NEET lately. I have a small comfy job so I have some money and I buy rolls of film on occasion and I carry a late '90s point and shoot camera with me almost everywhere I go. It's fun and super comfy. I also started developing black and white film myself, at home. >computer I have set up my windows machine to look like windows 98 (not completely accurate but I've changed over the icons and use a classic theme, etc. And on my linux machine I have set it up to look like some versions of UNIX from the late 80s to early 90s. And for my browser I use Pale Moon and I have it set to look like Netscape. >music I go to the record store sometimes and browse around and I have a collection of tapes, CDs, and records which I listen to. I have a lot of fun fixing cassette decks too. I could go on but what have you guys been doing? You ARE living it, aren't you anons??

Alright, I decided to expand the scope of this board a little more and include a containment thread for 80's nostalgia. I mainly created this board to serve as both a successor to the old /y2k/ board, which was my favorite board on 8chan, and also expand the scope to include 90's nostalgia too, but after checking on this board, I noticed someone mentioning 80's nostalgia and I decided I would do something about it. I personally don't care that much for 80's pop culture aside from the music and some of the old edgy anime, but 80's nostalgia did become a thing in the 2000's and I can see why others like the whole 80's style, so I'll allow it as long as it's mainly kept to this thread.

I don't have pictures at the moment to share, but I got lucky today and picked up a nice big beige computer case. I'm assembling a new personal computer from parts that I got deals on, found in the junk heap, or that I was given by friends. So, I guess it's not really a /retro/ computer, but it will be in a /retro/ case, and I plan to get an adapter which will let me use a 3.5" floppy disk drive in there. The adapter plugs into the floppy pins, and presents a USB interface to the motherboard. That adapter is under $10 USD. In fact, I've seen an adapter card that will do the same but for 5.25" floppy disk drives. So, when I have more money, I should be able to have not only a 3.5" FDD, but a 5.25" FDD in my system, running alongside new solid state drives, Blu-Ray disc drives, and of course a few regular hard drives. It should be pretty fun. Again, no pictures yet but I will share with you guys when I can. For now I'll just post one from my collection. What have you guys been up to?

OC is the lifeblood of imageboards, so I would like to encourage it in a constructive way. Anon* may submit a sentence or quote to be entered into a raffle and turned into an announcement limit of about 100 characters or one sentence, whichever is larger. The world has seen many empires rise and fall, and among them is one I find personally fascinating but little discussed: the American corporate empire of the late 20th century. While other empires conquered the world with guns and soldiers, corporations harnessed spirits of computer machinery to fight wars in cyberspace with Christmas catalogues as their propaganda posters. The bones of this empire have persisted into the current day as world-grasping monsters or corpses picked over by scavengers, but I wish to focus upon brighter, fuller days. To a lot of people who grew up during this era or after it, "empire" probably doesn't feel like the right word. It just seemed natural for America to be leading the world economy and producing the best computers, movies, and bikini models. Partially I was just young and optimistic, but in hindsight that era definitely had the guts to fill the three-piece, eight-hundred-dollar, one-hundred-per-cent-cashmere suit it wore to the office. And the office! Look at it! The office was a place with its own culture, its own manners of dress and address. You were expected to look and act a certain way, to be formal but not too detached. Business casual suits and pencil skirts just make people look good, even the rank and file. There were phrases and customs that needed to be respected. For many people, the office was a second home - sometimes literally, depending on deadlines. It was a beautiful mixture of ruthless work and human friendships, some of which ended precisely at 5:00 while others lasted long into the night. You weren't doing anything inappropriate in the executive penthouse, were you? Rambling aside, I've been watching some movies and TV from the 80s/90s (Die Hard, Terminator 2, etc.) in recent yeras, and something that I notice a lot is the underlying assumption of a bluechip megacorp having a physical complex. Because, y'know, lots of big corporations had their own dedicated office towers back then; it made sense to centralize things that way, and it let the company put their mark on the map. I have to imagine that part of vaporwave's popularity is harnessing these motifs and images, the "business castle" aesthetic that was used to guide much of the world's money and power for so many years. I have a hard time putting my finger on exactly what it is I'm trying to describe, but terms like "officepunk" have sort of floated out of my subconscious over time. Are you picking up what I'm putting down?
Cakechan just got a server taken down by a failed ransomware attack. They weren't hacked themselves, it was their host. When the ransomware install failed they made a copy of the whole site's public data and then wiped the server. Apparently other sites were attacked at the same time.
