Welcome to the arena. Despair, ye who enter here. The arena is something of a venting thread. If you have beef with another anon or with a specific vtuber that is getting out-of-hand, you may have discussion moved to this thread. If you want to discuss negative or obtuse meta content of a vtuber such as a boyfriend fuck list or actual pictures of the actress, you must do it here, or on a different board/website.

This thread is still moderated, however rules 0 and 6 do not apply here. Have at each other to your heart's content. Please hide this thread by default if this is content you do not wish to see. I would hide it too, if I had the choice. If anon ever gets to the point where he's exclusively only lurking this thread, new rules may come up. At the end of the day, your oshi is a real girl. She may show gratitude and appreciate her fans, but she does not love you.

EDIT: As a reminder, please familiarize yourself with the Global Rules of anon.cafe as Romania has laws regarding unlawful violation of privacy and doxxing that this site is beholden to. Should you choose to personally investigate matters, you do so at your own risk. My legal take on this unless the site owner disagrees and corrects me, is that if the information was publicly available at one time, then it does not fall under the Romanian criminal code unless a request for deletion is submitted since it falls under the internet's default fair use license honored by most countries. Should I receive an email or be forwarded such a "DMCA" request, I will post a copy (with names and personal details expunged of course) for transparency in-thread after removing the offending content.

How many vtubers are fat irl? Polka and Okayu though I suspect she may have lost some weight since joining Hololive are confirmed fatties and I think Mio, Reine and Himawari are fat as well but I have yet to confirm this. Matsuri used to be fat but slimmed down before becoming a vtuber. You'd think a lot of the Holo/Niji EN girls would be fat considering most of them are American weebs who never leave the house but, to my knowledge, there's no evidence of that being the case.

I'm not sure about fatties, but a lot of vtubers have eating disorders. That's part of why the ones who tried to become idols struggled in a lot of cases.

Honestly I exclusively watch virtual youtubers. About 70% of my intake is Hololive with the rest being VOMs, special-case corporate tubers like Yokato or VTuber mamas (artists), a couple Nijis I check once in a blue moon, and indies. I would feel conceited saying virtual youtubers are the entire market, though. More importantly when Nijisanji coined the term "バーチャルライバー" the connotation of this new term was that virtual content creators are not tied down by any one website and can come from anywhere.

tl;dr- all Virtual Youtubers are also Virtual Livers by default if they livestream, but not all virtual livers are virtual youtubers.

So apparently if you've been a member of a channel for at least two months, you can send one free supachat per month. I like that youtube added that since a lot of more popular livestreamers (like holos) only respond to supachats and this tricks them, but on the flip side I see a lot of long-game antis popping up around December/January if that's the case.

Who do you think will be the next major chuuba to graduate? Matsuri seems like she's been on a downward spiral ever since the Haachama fiasco. I thought for sure it was over for her after black hand incident.
>>128
Probably one of the ones who comes across as middle-of-the-road in terms of mental stability. The ones that seem the most normal are probably hiding all kinds of mental issues. Look A-Chan and her fetish for being vored by King Dedede.
Replies: >>363 >>408
>>362
Depends. Matuli's fans are cucked from apex and her NTR fetish, so she can probably get away with all sorts of nasty stuff. If it's due to personal reasons, I could see Pekora, Flare, or Haato graduating due to differences with the company. If it's because of a scandal, only Noel's very real-life shota fetish which is about to be exacerbated soon with the death of her hamsters and a shota moving in with her mom or Ollie's well-known fetish for masturbating and having sex while live come to mind. HoloEN2 has room for scandals, but I don't think those will happen for at least another 6 months or more. It's hard to judge EN since everyone thought Kiara's SJW antics would get her shitcanned but she's still around and has significantly improved since her debut while keeping that under wraps. If it's due to Youtube shutting a channel down permanently, only Marine is at risk of that in recent months and she's worked hard to avoid that bad end.
Replies: >>373 >>1533
And obviously that's only covering Homolive. I can't speak for the entire vtuber scene.

It’s probably something to do with the rumors that she has a boyfriend. There was a minor controversy about that when she debuted . I haven’t looked into it too much so I don’t know if there’s any truth to it.
Personally, I don’t really mind that sort of thing as long they don’t talk about it on stream since I’m just there to watch them play a character. But if you’re actually giving money to a chuuba and developing a parasocial relationship her (which isn’t healthy but that’s a whole other can of worms) then I could see how that would make you upset.
Replies: >>407
>>405
No the boyfriend thing is understood to be happening with all of them or at least most of them. A woman with that much free time (when they aren't getting ready for concerts) is going to have that problem in all walks of life.
>>402
Mumei is not into Japanese culture in any meaningful way past whatever aired on Toonami. She is past her prime based on the shows she watched growing up (born in the 90s), and she signed up for Holo in the hopes of easy money while going to college. Her fans legitimately scare her because she doesn't understand Otaku culture. Imagine Subaru when she started, but without even the Japanese connection to help fans with corrupting her into otaku culture. Her understanding of idols is sub-par at best, and her main redeeming quality is the fact that she is legitimately autistic, and braindead from school/no sleep which allows her autism to manifest in fun and interesting ways.
It's not that Mumei is irredeemable, but she is an autist in normalfag's clothing trying to not be autistic when her fans would appreciate it much more if she just acted autistic without sleep deprivation or pressure situations.
>>362
Noel earns more on roommate than as Holo, not to mention she is creative enough that she could make a new persona if that fails, and she seems to have enough money saved up to survive the starting phase, especially now that she bought her own house. Not to mention that some gachis would still follow her even after a potential shota scandal.
Korone said on Twitter she considered quitting, which many link to wanting to spend more time with her sickly mother, but the more time passes the less likely it seems.
Mel has been trying to reinvent herself lately because roommate had to quit due to NicoNico rule changes. And then there was a death in the family. But if that fails I can see her quitting.
And then there's this Rushia clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rP9RoUln-Bo

While we're talking about specific vtubers quitting, I'd like to talk about an event affecting a whole company, and how fickle idolfags are.
Pic related is the average concurrent viewcount of all Nijis(gray), Niji males(blue) and Niji females(orange). Collabs with both genders are included in gray, but not in either blue or orange, and I have no idea where Mayuzumi "MtX" Kai is counted. But what I want you to notice is how male and female numbers were close until February 2020, the dip that happened then, and how the graphs have been spreading apart since. Nijisanji is well aware of this, that's why their newest Japanese gen had 4 guys and only one girl. So what happened?
Dodgeball.
About two dozen of Nijis, guys and girls, have gotten together offline and played some sports. It wasn't a secret, here's for example an untranslated clip of Hoshikawa talking about it(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrnQ3-T-izQ). This also included some of the least active streamers, some literally below Ayame level of activity. At the same time Niji's top guns, especially Mito, were overworked and under stress. This made fans mad that the company's deadweight is having fun on their expense. Antis on the other hand started to spread rumours about lots of sex that supposedly happened at that event.
But the worst thing that happened was the response. Multiple male Nijis mocked fans talking about that, saying that they were just jealous that they can't meet their waifu in real life. And the females seemingly all agreed to avoid the subject, leading people to believe the rumours. Many fans either jumped ship to Hololive or just quit vtubers entirely because of this.
And remember, at this time HoloJP3, Cover's most idol-like group yet, was hard at work putting hours in. And they capitalized hard on unicorns leaving Nijis.
What I'm getting to is, how would a similarly rumor-inducing event affect Hololive? They don't really have the male backup, but they do have the west, which has a lot less idolfags, and a lot more cuckolds. ID never even pretended to have anything to do with idols. However, I think it would be devastating for the Japanese branch, especially for more GFE oriented talents like Rushia.
So what do anons think?
(for those wondering, the April 2020 and March 2021 peaks are when Kanto's states of emergency began, and August 2020 and July 2021 are Nijisanji Koushien)
Replies: >>416 >>418 >>433
>>415
Looking at this, it looks as though the Niji males were on track to overtake the females anyway. If I had to guess, I'd say it's because the market for male vtubers is far less saturated than the market for female vtubers. Of course it's a much smaller market but it's one that Nijisaji seems to have unchallenged dominance in thanks, in part, to all the controversy and mismanagement surrounding Holostars.
That's not to say the dodgeball incident played no role in the decline of Niji female's viewership around that time, but there were probably other factors at play, such has Hololive's growing popularity due to things like having relatively more consistency in terms of quality and activity and the recent debut of their fourth generation which included Coco who brought in an unprecedented number of English-speaking viewers.
Also, for all their faults, idolfags can be good for scaring normalfags away, even if they haven't been doing such a great job of that lately.
>>408
I am a fan of Rushia but I'm more concerned of Delutaya and her absence of streaming.
>>415
I mean if I want to watch a woman do something, I expect her to either be good at games and funny (a unicorn) or bad at games, funny, and at least giving off the illusion of virginal purity. If I'm going to watch a guy VTuber I expect him to be good at games or to be able to keep me entertained.
>Volleyball incident
You said it yourself. Niji's girls shot themselves in the foot. If a girl is honest about where she went/what she did, fans don't bat an eye unless it's scandalous. The moment they tried to hide it is the moment their fans turned on them.
>And remember, at this time HoloJP3, Cover's most idol-like group yet
I'm not sure I would call Marine or Noel idol-like. Even Pekora was clearly not an idol from very early on. If anything they were the least idol-like group from Cover at the time outside of Matsuri's antics, and what little material that survived the Holocaust is still around tends to show this. It might be that between the volleyball incident and Cover's mishandling of Holostars that Niji took the male vtuber scene by storm, however, in the end it was mostly a sudden surge in English-translated Matsuri clips in conjunction with Kiryu Coco's self-translated streams that got the overseas fans watching Homolive allowing for that explosion. It was so effective that Cover still uses the Hololive Productions channel as basically an English-Japanese propaganda advertising channel. The animated shorts serve to help establish the personality of characters along with disseminating recent gossip while the "live collab" portions draw people to watch girls they normally would not.
I guess this is the vent thread or whatever so I'll post here, delete it if it's not a fit for the board or whatever I don't care, just want to complain because I am upset and want people to know that I am upset.

There's only a handful of users, and it suffers from lack of time to dedicate to the hobby and to spreading the hobby, Plus I brought in a few friends and used a VPN (but never to samefag). I strive to read about what's going on, but I feel like I could be doing a lot more for the board if I wasn't so busy most of the time. Don't know what to tell you, anon. Shit like that dodgeball game has knock on effects too, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_HdYtFDD4Hc
Wherein Botan gets a SC complaining about using fan money to enter a tournament with male streamers.
Now this is a bit retarded since Botan's hosted fan servers and events and will likely be professional and not flirt but stuff like the aforementioned and the likes of Matsuri who indeed do what the sc accuses poison the well.
There is as well always the risk of the other side acting up, much like the niji males did, even if the streamer is innocuous.

That being said, there would have to be more substance for anything to be devastating. Rushia had her discord show and reveal she was messaging Mafumafu, who'd she'd been suspected of dating years before. Fandead never gave a shit, only mafu's fujos did.

Really I think there's too many sycophants nowadays for anything short of hell to make a dent, some shit really is disgusting.
Just the other month Polka went from a members stream crying about how lonely she was (her members content repeatedly talks about being dependant on chat, etc) to, an hour later, playing, and flirting, with holostar's and niji's roommate accounts on hers, which is well known.
When I add that she also gets a lot of videos subbed, which almost certainly has to do with her knowing and having met up irl with loserbait who now seems to be staff, and the TL, she really screams snake. Backlash? Negligible.

Also regarding Noel, she's said multiple times she's not into shota she just plays it up for laughs, she's into older men.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgVsPFljyww
I'm guessing the absent father's to blame.
That being said, and as I'm sure many an anon can attest to, joking, especially so much, can lead to 'joking', and so on.
As >>373 says and pic related shows, shouldn't be too much bother though.

>>408
She doesn't have that much money anymore after blowing it all on the semi-failed booth project and spiralling audio autism costs, approaching 円10,000,000 in equipment alone.
Still very wealthy though, just blows a lot of it on fantia subs, I hope she saves up enough for her studio/tutorage plan one day
Replies: >>434 >>435
>>433
So that's why the Japs say Polka is one of the biggest menheras of the group. I had heard that her dependence on her chat was approaching Watame levels, but I figured that being obese in Japan just left her starved for male attention. She seemed normal aside from that.
Replies: >>435 >>436
>>433
Sauce on the flirting thing? I think Polka gets a lot of TLs because, like Nobuhime, she's one of the best at taking fairly boring content and making it entertaining, and she has at least a basic grasp on English about on Pochimaru's level, maybe a little less. Same reason Subaru gets a lot of subs.

Now realise this was the same day she was thanking fans for her 1 year anniversary and talked about being burnt out (should be early on iirc).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nbO_j1Sbx-4

Then consider she supposedly gets tired easily, hence why she doesn't read SC. So too tired to read the donations of fans on an anniversary, but able to stream, for longer, with a large group of men she won't touch or mention, by her own logic.

I watched bits and pieces in reverse order, but she does sound more like a corpse in the bits I caught in the collab content. Also to play devil's advocate, streaming for a live audience is different than playing a game with a group of friends that happens to be streamed by someone else.

That's essentially what anons were saying back when her and Fubuki had about equal sway in the company. I think she'll include people she's friends with. The issue is these "Indie" companies get famous vtubers to do it in their hobby time, but because they do it in their hobby time until it's a valid source of income, they never grow quite as fast as anyone expects them to, I'm sure it will be successful but maybe not as Hololive/Nijisanji-level successful as anons are thinking.

That's probably because it's a direct segway into political discussion Japanese-Korean relations, which 4chan jannies are terrified of. As much as I like Ina, her Korean-Leaf upbringing are what got her to recommend Bae and Sana over a mutual love of K-pop. Essentially Ina's ethnicity is a ticking time bomb that could start all sorts of artificial drama in a place that likes to gossip and has users more interested in following the gossip than in watching vtubers.
I think this is the best thread to mention the twitch whore fox's russian talk.

>I see how many Russian-speaking people are interested in vtubers. I see it. I told my company about it, they allowed me to make this stream. I hope they will allow me to do these projects in future. I'll not be able to make projects in russian all the time.
>Remember, Coco from Hololive, even though she did things in English, she couldn't do full English streams like the half-Russian (sic) stream I'm doing now.
>I have...I was given way more rights to do this, but please believe me that I continue to talk to the company, that I will continue to show the clips that you make, I continue to show how many comments and how many people come to watch the Russian streams...the Russian-language streams, sorry [you anglos wouldn't get it but "Russian" in regards to the country, the people and the language doesn't mean the same thing] and...just trust me, even if I can't always [she misspeaks "can"] *laughs*...can, can can, sorry, even if I can't always talk in Russian on streams or do Russian streams, I will keep asking the company and showing the company that there is an interest in this.
>So I hope you understand that if you see somewhere in the comments or people will be asking "please, please, please, I want more", I can't always do this, and please give them Coco as an example, that Coco too...she did such half-English streams sometimes, but she couldn't even do a fully English stream, even though her command of English is excellent.
>So, yeah. I'll keep showing them, I'll keep telling them. I really want them to allow me to make this stream more often than once a month.
>All of this...I don't know if we have a right to talk about this, Coco left Hololive...but the actress who play...the actress, or you could say the vocal actress [she means voice actress] who plays her, she still makes streams and it's very easy to find her. It's very easy...oh, yeah, some people [in the chat] already said it, I'm not sure if I can talk about this, but yeah...you can find her, she still makes, actually just recently she debuted her new character, she was very beatiful.
>Well, alright, so...well, alright...I think I said everything I wanted to say, now we will read, we will answer, we will watch, we will do everything.
>My God I have four and a half hours left to my next stream.

>get famous vtubers to do it in their hobby time
I wouldn't be so certain that's the path she'll follow.
Her connections are more far reaching than you'd expect, for example Melody (of stripper fame) alluded to her and kson being friends. She'd have the connections to convince at least some smaller Vtubers to go fulltime, and she has the funding to pay salaries until they make it (keeping in mind, she got a million bucks off superchat in a year, and she stayed on for more than that, with her keeping about 40% of that, plus merchandising income, plus subscription income, plus appearances in other places). Chances are, she made at least a million bucks while she was with Hololive. Assuming she didn't blow it all on Adidas apparel, she's got enough funding to start big, if she wants to go that path.

This is a stupid rule. I would understand if they were the opposite sex, but who cares if Marine's manager is on the stream or not? Also doesn't that just mean Marine has to find a way to have her on without her voice appearing?

It's utter bullshit.
An EN manager, who are all guys, was allowed on the L4D2 collab stream (non voice mind you), and now has a tranny lorefag role too.
It is pretty funny to give all of them female avatars with Marine outright stating otherwise.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFfutMHp7io

It shouldn't be much different from collabing with their mamas, although I could see them not wanting to cause more permanent mane-charas (especially with high turn over rates), that's fixed by just limiting the streams not outright banning them.

It's not like the girls don't lose Mane-chans that they like every once in a while. I feel like Marine should abuse the voice loophole to have her there over garlic phone or something.

From 1955: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yumiko-chan_incident
To 1995: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1995_Okinawa_rape_incident
The US has a long and dark history on Okinawa that they try to cover up. 80% of Okinawans want them gone according to surveys, and even official polling still puts that number between 50-70%. They fudge the numbers by claiming that Okinawans commit crime 6x more often than US servicemen per 10k population, but that's because while Japanese prosecutors have the legal right to prosecute service members, they usually defer punishment for lesser crimes to military tribunals which promptly put them on a ship or ship them back to America to stand trial so that they are not considered part of the Okinawan crime statistics even if the crime took place in Okinawa. This is especially prevalent with sexual offenses such as rape and public masturbation, and in most cases the ones doing it are niggers. As a ratio of the Navy, blacks make up a significantly larger chunk of the naval presence in Okinawa and Germany for the Army/Marines than they do anywhere else Americans are stationed. Officers have openly joked to newspapers (they didn't realize they were talking to journalists) about the fact that rapes are so prevalent among their troops in Okinawa because the US military banned the use of prostitutes. In many cases charges never get brought forward even when the women who were raped are adamant about it, because the perpetrator was black and the prosecutors don't want more mass protests in Okinawa. In many cases the US military doesn't even bring them to the ship for punishment, they just give them the option to be dishonorably discharged. It doesn't help that Okinawa is the poorest prefecture in Japan so they rely on the American military to stay afloat, leading to lots of interracial couples. In fact most of the crime reports that DO make it through regarding rapes and burglaries are usually because it was a US serviceman raping or stealing from another serviceman's local girlfriend/wife.
Replies: >>1014 >>1015
>>1009
Same as any other overseas US military base: The US forcibly exports its rape apes and protects them from being strung up by the local population.
>>674
I heavily doubt it's pot. It's not anywhere as easy to access in Japan as here. You get 10 years for dealing, and 5 for possession, plus tens of thousands of dollars in fines on top. Opium has less punishment than weed there and has the benefit of being less smelly and thus easier concealed.
Then again, she isn't an 80 year old Chinese man, so it's probably not Opium either.
>>1011
Also a lot of Japs don't consider Okinawans to be real Japanese so they don't give a shit either.
>>1011
It's also important to point out that the US doesn't even consider Okinawans to be rightful citizens of literally anywhere either, due to the fact that as far as the US is concerned they weren't even supposed to be there in the first place.
The US kicked the natives off the island after WW2 and basically intended to turn the entire island into a military base, only to have the natives return in fishing boats less than a year later and begin squatting. Further, according to some military lawyers, the 1970/80s era treaties that turned the Island back over to the Japanese state actually specifically disallowed the native population from returning. The US Military has as a result considered the Okinawans roughly akin to native fauna and the actual 'crime' that gets the dindus and dumbasses kicked out of the military is embarrassing the service, not rape/theft/whatever, since the victim in their eyes has no legal right to complain.
The US Military will, however, actively prosecute any idiot that goes after a Japanese mainlander in Okinawa, since the US considers Japanese people to be allies and rightful inhabitants of the island. They just don't consider the Okinawans to be human.

What he and I suspect some of the people he's talking about don't understand is that waifuism is the new religion, and vtubers and idols are just an extension of that religion. We literally call them idols, after all, and people show up and give them praise and money for no reason at all.

When vtubers come into the equation things get a little more complex, and if the object of worship breaks character then of course the viewers will get mad. They're worshipping the image, not the person behind it.

KONNICHIWA! Hello Hololive from Virginia Beach! My name is PantsuParty aka Amanda Lynn Morris and I'm a YouTuber slash creative individual slash someone who identifies with being born in the wrong dimension. Tragically, I... truly just do not fit in the 3rd dimension, so... WOW! AHEHEHEHE! AS YOU CAN SEE, I'm a goofy girl who REALLY embraces being themself, and I love to try new things! I'M REALLY good at technology, I pick up on, uh, things really fast. Just within this past month, I picked up Adobe Premiere to learn how to use that software ahead of time, and made tons of videos, actually a video every day for the whole month of May, so please check out PantsuParty if you want to see more of what I'm like, uh, and what kind of things I come up with... I mainly like to focus on anime-related content, I love to analyze anime, I love to talk about otaku culture, I love to talk about anything Japaneeese, uh, I love gaming, I was super obsessed with Animal Crossing when it came out, I love to do lots of seeing unboxing games (?) Unfortunately, I am NOT a Minecraft stan, so if that's what you're gonna contractually obligate me to do [sudden cut] Hehehe, wait, I just got a call from my ex-CEO manager, he said, UH... Yeah, YEAH, I'd LOVE to play Minecraft! (laughs) Some of the types of content I do here on ye olde YouTube includes passionately musically performing some...thing...

I have tons of gaming streams and let's plays content, one of my favorite ones is when I tried to do a Pokemon SoulSilver Nuzlocke, which, unfortunately ended with a... (laughs) With Glitch City. I've already done multiple livestreams already on my Twitch dot tv channel, I definitely would be able to do at least 3 streams a week. Another one of my passions is art. I love drawing, I've been drawing since I was little. Recently, I was endowed with a drawing table that I can connect to my computer and I tried making a Drawcast, but I would be very interested in doing more stuff like... that. (Awkwardly gestures, presents the video behind her)

Sooo, if I haven't scared you away yet, (background cuts to an image representation featuring anime girls and lewd cosplay titled motivation.jpg) you may be wondering what is UP with that get-up? UHH, ARE THOSE underpants on your head? And uh, yes, it's underpants on my head... I truly think pantsu are the most versatile fashion accessory any one girl can have! Not only does it function as an adorable hat, (she draws the bottom over her face) it could also become a facemask! Just like the common shimapan, I am EXTREMELY versatile! I can do ALLLLL kinds of things! Draw, sing, act, make a complete fool of myself on the internet (hmm), be adorable, whatever you need me to do, I am williiing to take commaaaand! The reason why I want to become a Hololive vtuber is that the whole phenomenon of vtubing and virtual YouTubing and just YouTube in general has inspired me to take a lot of risks with my life and to really kind of develop a lot of creative talents. I grew up extremely shhhy aaand I didn't really know how to really make connections with people and I think it's so wonderful that this new technology allows people with different learning styles, maybe different perspectives, maybe even people who speak different languages, uh, a chance to connect with somebody and not have to worry about all the, all the not so fun stuff that we have to deal with in the real world.

Uhh, hehe! My favorite vtuber is Natsuiro Matsuri, she is SO funny and spunky and I just REALLY respect the energy and the effort she puts into entertaining her fanbase. Uh, I hope I can be like her one day! Ehehehe! As for my history here on the platform of YouTube, I have been making content for the site for a very long time! When I was in middle school, I used to make those lyric singalong videos and just like AMVs of my favorite anime, and almost 3 years ago, I launched my own YouTube channel PantsuParty and my side channel Corrupting Your Kids, where I just kind of make whatever I'm inspired to make. I've been featured in HUNDREDS of videos by now, there's a playlist called Every Video Featuring May (playlist is scrolling in the background) I will link it in the description of this video. But that includes every video I've ever been in, I've done voice acting roles, I've done livestreams, I've done off the cuff reviews, I've made and edited analysis videos, all sorts of stuff but you'll find it there. Also I just wanted to say that like even though I love to have fun, and kind of, kind of a little edgy, I do think it's really important to follow the rules and I just really want to make the best content possible.

Thanks for watching my audition, PantsuParty out! (peace sign)

>>1165
I looked the guy up. He’s not hard on the eyes but he’s not a panty-dampener either. Are these (non-Ironmouse) girls really so hard up for options that this is whom they lust after? I know that being virtually surrounded by anonymous men who worship and throw money at you must induce a kind of ennui that means you find someone who denigrates you (and them) to be fresh and exciting, but 1800-come-on-now, surely you can do better than that? Poor things.

By the way, that PR agency the anitubers are affiliated with - GeeXPlus - is a real scummy foreign bunch with a chip on their shoulders. The company nominally traces its ownership up to Kadokawa via BookWalker, but the suits in Kadokawa’s vast empire have very little touch with tastes on the ground, little ability to oversee everything, and are mainly of the “line goes up at all costs” attitude in any case, so the foreigners on the ground have much leeway to scheme towards getting their hands on more influence. It’s similar to what foreign ((( localiser ))) cliques already try to do. Neither of these groups contain many people you’d hang out with voluntarily; they generally make for miserable company.

GeeXPlus has already tried to pull a few attempts at the “try to create a problem that you have to hire us to fix” scam. More broadly, they’re playing to the same attempt to displace tastemakers as we saw all that time ago when the exodus to 8chan happened. Kadokawa in Japan and Funimation internationally wants normalfags to be told what to read and watch, and they’d be delighted if they succeed in getting those normalfags to think of their tame anitubers as cool guys whose taste is to be admired. It’s hard to exaggerate the stinking blend of rage+contempt that the management of those companies have for “fans” (anyone who has the taste and knowledge to say when something’s shit). The Ur-consoomer of their wet dreams just CONSUMES PRODUCT THEN GETS EXCITED FOR NEXT PRODUCT. If that sounds pathetic, it’s because it is; these anitubers and their podcast are the Collider of their field.

She's been breaking rules since her early days, sending DMs to her best Superchatters which is against the rules for talent. Her managers have also been sending stuff during streams that made her cry on stream, but now I think it was scolding for similar incidents.

At first Cover sided with her about this with the first press release pretty much saying the talent's private lives are private, and no one's business, but she's been using her work accounts to do personal stuff, which is what started this in the first place.

They probably saw the leaks to korekore after investigating further and probably more leaks after checking her work accounts. It was apparently to prove to her fanbase that she wasn't in a relationship with mafumafu, but it was totally unneccesary.

#weloverushia was trending, she didn't lose many subs, and was probably going to pick up Western subs like with what happened with Towa. If she had kept quiet, it would have blown over and she could have kept on streaming as Rushia. But she has the history of unprofessional behavior and the NDA leaks were probably the last straw.

This seems like the same like the right place to bitch about this. I think Holo EN would be better if they only debuted three members per generation like they did with ID.

Reaper and Chicken have grown on me even though I hated them at first, but a Gen1 debut without them would have been much more orthodox and kept much more drama out of HoloEN, permanently changing HoloEN. I won't say for the better, but definitely it would be more Japanese and in-line with idol culture. We'd miss out on some good content, but also a lot of the more crass content that brings down the entire group, so I don't know if I would call that good or bad. I think without a Calli figure to take the heat off Gura, Gura would have quit since she was dealing with alcoholism and other issues during the first few months after departing from her Senzawa persona.

As for Gen 2, I have admittedly not watched them enough however for the most part they have all been "safe." Fauna concerned me since she's a massive slut IRL, but she's played it safe (fake, but safe) since her debut so I don't see her causing drama since she enjoys her income, which only leaves Kronii during her long-stream episodes (she gets migraines or something and becomes loopy? I don't know), and I haven't watched Kronii enough past her debut and collabs to form an opinion about that. Bae is a true otaku which comes across as a gap moe but we probably wouldn't get that side of her if Gen 1 had debuted the way you wanted so I don't know how to feel about that.

Overall I think HoloEN would be "boring" the way the newer HoloJPs are boring without the bad apples so I can't hate them too much. It took me a long time to come to that conclusion though. Kiara provides a business sense and pushes corporate boundaries in the background to allow for new/different content, and Calli, despite being a wigger, provides a different musical outlook and takes the heat off other member's antics by being twice as despicable as any of the others could ever hope to be. IRyS and Bae couldn't be so smug/gap moe degenerate as they are without Calli as a baseline to work off of. None of Gen2 are particularly great on their own, however they all work well in collabs both with one another but especially with Gen1. Mumei by herself is a bit of a control freak and bland (makes sense she's a college liberal arts student) when not in psychopath mode such as during the Needy Streamer playthrough, but she has good art symmetry/contrast with Ina, helps Ame actualize ideas, and makes for an excellent conversational partner with Gura since their total two braincells combined is like watching two bakas come together to create something new and exciting in their own baka way. Kronii's smug pairs nicely with most of Gen 2 and being good friends with Ina IRL lets the two of them crack jokes in a natural and expansive way. Sana is just a bundle of pure fun bringing Aussie shitposting to the table.

Replies: >>1534

Kiara had a habit of being outspoken about BLM and other such activism while in character. Many found that, coupled with some other early behaviour, contrary to what they expected from Hololive.

VShojo is mostly known for bringing American camgirls to virtual living, since a good percentage of their original batch of talent had that background, as well as being the home of PINK CAT BAD. If you know what to look for you can take a sniff of their business relationships and decide whether you find them savoury or not. My personal impression is that most of their talent is a bit mediocre and quite hard to like. The mystery is why a powerhouse like Kson would need or want to join up with them, or indeed with any agency like them, in the first place.
Pippa has released a video where she mentions that Japan is implementing a system where VTubers and manga artists will only have "verified" invoices if they use their real names and they don't have regards to privacy, however /a/ mentions that this regulation is applied on a case-by-case basis.
How much of this is true?
Replies: >>1539 >>1606 >>2049
>>1538
I looked into it a little. It has to do with a new law that requires all businesses (including freelancers and other traders who do business under their own names, which includes vtubers and manga artists who are usually sole traders rather than employees in a legal sense) who issue invoices to register those invoices with the Financial Directorate before they’re sent. This means that the tax authorities gain real-time logging of transactions, among other advantages for the government. When an invoice’s particulars are registered, the Directorate returns a QR code containing a signature or link that “verifies” the invoice for the customer receiving the invoice to check. If invoices are not verified in this way, the law makes it much harder for the customer to claim certain parts against tax (e.g. being able to “pass on” sales tax/VAT, which becomes mandatory for even small freelancers to charge where before there was a minimum revenue threshold), so it is expected that businesses will demand verified invoices or risk suffering financial and compliance disadvantages.

Of course, in order to issue verified invoices, the traders concerned (which generally includes vtubers, manga artists etc. who in a legal sense operate as sole traders providing services under performance contracts) must be verifiable as well. In this case, that means being exposed in a publicly-searchable database. Apparently the Ministry of Finance chose real names as the method of verification because
>The Ministry of Finance is reportedly not considering countermeasures for privacy-related issues, responding that it did not believe that listing a person's real name is "highly risky personal information." According to a representative, the individual's real name was chosen over addresses or telephone numbers as a point of identity verification for this reason.

So while it’s “optional” in the sense that you can send non-verified invoices that include 10% VAT that your client won’t be able to deduct from the VAT they collect, in reality that will impose a significant financial burden that is expected to starve out any room to opt out.

>>1539
I should also mention that this sort of thing is very unusual for Japan, which tends to come down very heavily in favour of preserving individual privacy. The situation faced by the pseudonym-heavy parts of the creative industries are a special situation where tax/commercial transparency law and individual rights come into conflict.

I can't find any official thing from the usual rumor mills since the usual rumor mills were just shitposting up a storm. Some people are saying he told management to fire his manager and management told him that he was a member of holostars not hololive so he didn't get that kind of leverage. From what I can gather he said "something" that got him in trouble, and his response to management was to fuck off because they weren't helping him succeed as a virtual youtuber. At that point management laid down the book to try and force him to be compliant. Because of that, he fucked off innawoods both to cool his head by getting away from the internet, and as a "fuck you" to management by flexing his chad autism. Management had no access to him if he was away from a computer and thus couldn't do anything, and since they had officially suspended him he didn't have to respond to them during his suspension.

tl;dr- Whatever caused him to be in management's bad graces in the first place, it was him going off about management not having his back that actually caused the suspension. Lisper has autism so he was probably "right" but was being too honest.
