If you have beef with another anon or with a specific vtuber that is getting out-of-hand, you may have discussion moved to this thread. If you want to discuss negative or obtuse meta content of a vtuber such as a boyfriend fuck list or actual pictures of the actress, you must do it here, or on a different board/website.
This thread is still moderated, however rules 0 and 6 do not apply here. Have at each other to your heart's content. Please hide this thread by default if this is content you do not wish to see. I would hide it too, if I had the choice. If anon ever gets to the point where he's exclusively only lurking this thread, new rules may come up. At the end of the day, your oshi is a real girl. She may show gratitude and appreciate her fans, but she does not love you.

Board Culture & OC Raffle
I don't have anything to use the announcement area for, so I'm going to use it for a monthly prize. OC is the lifeblood of imageboards, so I would like to encourage it in a constructive way. Anon* may submit a sentence or quote to be entered into a raffle and turned into an announcement limit of about 100 characters or one sentence, whichever is larger. Raffle entries are not free: In order to be entered into the raffle, anon must either submit a banner or a piece of OC with a moderate amount of effort put in (no stick figures, video-ripped gifs/webms, or generic memes that take 2 minutes to make if you choose OC instead of banners).
*Limit of one submission per anon per month. First raffle will be held October 1st.

The only real restriction is 500kb, but please maintain a roughly 3:1 aspect ratio (300x100 - 600x200) to keep them consistent. I've included a minimum and maximum sized Nene Seal in the banners for now for comparison.

I'm think I want to experiment with custom flags. I'm thinking of doing them as a 28x28 and allowing any liver (really their face or a symbolic representation) or corporate symbol (Hololive, Nijisanji, Phase-Connect, VOMs, etc.) as a flag. If anons are opposed to custom flags, the next month or so is the time to say so.
We do not need moderators at this time!
The board is small enough that I'm not worried about it. If you are interested in moderating, obviously say something to that effect because it lets me know you are interested and I can add you to an email list or something to notify you if I ever am recruiting, but it is best not to introduce more points of failure into a system if it's not necessary.
HOW BANS WORK:
Bans will average 16 hours for those without a criminal record. This is enough time to force anon to sleep on his actions and cool his head without impacting his posting ability the following day. An additional 4 hours will be added for each additional offense in the last 90 days to account for VPNs. Ban lengths are cumulative. After 90 days your criminal record is expunged. All "permabans" issued on /l/ shall last 90 days.
Example:
>Anon banned for some reason
>Anon is a good boy for 88 days
>Anon is banned for something else
>Anon gets a 20 hour ban. He must go a full 90 days without a ban or he will get a 24 hour ban next time.
Anon may dispute his ban to have it expunged from his record without fear of retaliation in this thread so long as he follows the rules while arguing his case. I make mistakes too, so don't assume it was in bad faith if I issued one.
Warnings do not count against anon.

Meanwhile Kamizuki-chan is a lot of fun and gives off Pippa vibes, but seems to be keeping herself under control for now. Her tastes in anime are somewhat generic but show promise that she's actually an otaku. She likes vaporwave and J-rock. I'm going to wait for a few streams before forming an opinion but I like her so far. She's got the voice that with some more training and practice she could put on a good concert as well.
Sumi's lithsp is cute and she seems autistic, but she didn't actually explain anything about her character and seemed underageb&. I'll form an opinion of her based on collabs. She seems fairly comfy but I don't even know much about her.
Sara is a complete valley girl who talks 100kmh and has an accent. Her taste in anime is generic trash, but she has decent taste in games and likes punishment games (Dark Souls, Baldur's Gate, etc.) so I might give her a shot if she's playing something I like. Tomoshika is cute! Pikamee is adorkable! The new girl is a quiet water spirit and the new boy is a hot-blooded earth dragon. What I like about VOMs is that while they are an official group, GYARI runs the show as if they were independents with fairly minimal contractual obligations. I know Pikamee has been working double time as the VOMs international division's coordinator, and Tomoshika has been acting as PR back in Japan keeping the gears greased. Is the age of Hololive over as GYARI's assembled team takes center stage!?

Pikamee's content is the easier to get into as an English speaker since despite being Japanese, her English is good and clear/crisp most of the time. Tomoshika wants to do better with English, but she's not very good with it. She makes it up by being an absolute sweetheart. Based on Pikamee's explanation, Miuneru can't speak English and has no plans to learn it, while Daimonji is familiar with English but lacks confidence in his ability. Both new members are set to debut at the end of September.

How have your tastes changed since you got into vtubers?
When I first started watching, my favorite at Hololive was Miko followed by Pekora (this was still when PekoMiko was a thing) and Korone and my favorites at Nijisanji were Roa and Ars. My favorite indie/third party might have actually been Mea.
Now the only Holos I regularly keep up with are Nene, Luna, Watame, and Aqua. Himawari and Sasaki are the only Nijis I still watch. I haven't watched any indie/third party chuubas in like a year; I think the last one was Uto.

it's that time of the year…
Just learned about this chuuba and wanted to share in a more quiet place.
e is studying to be a veterinarian in college, but has already done volunteer work and found a cute little rabbit idol who has lots of stories and experience working with animals.
She is passionate about her love for animals, but is also interested in mycology and microbiology. In the future, she would like to do content with microscopes.
The games she plays are all nostalgic, from the latest role-playing games to old classics.
We don't see this kind of educational content very often, but I think that is what makes her unique.
She was bullied all her life and was lonely, so she always wanted to be loved and to love others unconditionally. She has also used image boards and forums for years. But this finally gave her the confidence she needed.
I'm sure she'll be happy to have more friends.

Depends on your goals. Obviously with Hiragana/Katakana, but you wouldn't be reading this if you didn't know those. Learn hiragana first as katakana has limited practical usage outside of cosmopolitan hubs and books. If you have fat stacks of cash and just want to go to Japan, just get a tutor or sensei and don't bother with these guides since you will do 100x better in a structured setting with Japanese. They will probably use the Genki textbook since it's used by English-speakers and SEA languages both. If you are a poorfag or autodidactic learner (you are probably not an autodidact if you are reading this), itazuraneko guide will be the place to start along with reading Tae Kim's guide or いまび (imabi) for grammar (you can read both but I would read one, do a little work for a month or two, then read the other when doing that). Japanese grammar is pretty intuitive, but it's easy to fuck up. If you suck at rote memorization, start with Kanjidamage as it is designed to be engaging and teach you through little snarky lessons. You don't have to understand everything in Tae Kim's guide/いまび from the start, but you should at least read through it once since you will absorb a lot of information passively. I suggest reading it at night as it will put you to sleep and kill two birds with one stone.
Describe what your ideal vtuber would be, and then recommend others vtubers that fit their descriptions.
Keep in mind there's a 99%+ chance people posting know about popular vtubers like Gawr Gura.
