Guess who ended up watching the two seasons of Nexo Knights that were on Netflix? This guyyyy.
So here's my two cents. The general show is fun enough but:
>The whole theme relied on the app game and kids scanning the shields for special powers. Kids quickly learned to cheat with screenshots etc.
>Each episode had a forced 'power-up' scene where a shield gets shown on the screen to scan, this part always had the same animation.
>The power-ups in the show, despite each having a special name and image...They all do the same thing. Armor glows, knights end up winning a fight. Zero tension and predictable.
>The main characters don't get any decent character development until later episodes, causing the villains to steal the spotlight most of the time and have the better comedy moments.
So a cartoon that wasn't 'as good' as Ninjago (sheesh talk about a low bar) combined with LEGO's usual attempt at appealing to phone-addicted kids with some app game...
It's the same reason Hidden Side got screwed over. Neglected cartoon, app game gimmick, theme that kids don't seem to love as much as playing ninja.
But hey, Monkie Kid seems to be using a whole different strategy and it has a rabid fanbase on social media so maybe LEGO finally learned its lesso-
>LEGO Mario
>VIDIYO
Never mind.
