Today we've reached a huge milestone: it came to my attention that trashchan has been blocked by spectrum. To my knowledge, this is the first time an ISP trying to block us. It means ((( they're ))) afraid. Good.

If you're unfortunate enough to have this ISP, you might try this, I have no idea if it works or not. I wouldn't hold my breath though.

For everyone else, buckle up, things are only getting bumpier from here. Have tor ready, that's the hardest to block from the currently available access methods. If trashchan seems unavailable, check a VPN/tor, if it works, your ISP might be blocking access.

Thanks for the headsup, Admin.

>It means ((( they're ))) afraid. Good.
LMAO. """they""" are so out of touch with reality. :D

>For everyone else, buckle up, things are only getting bumpier from here.
Yes, I predict the same.

As usual, thanks for all you do to keep things running smoothly! Cheers.
See if changing the DNS works

I don't think it's a DNS level block. The Anon could successfully connect to trashchan servers, then during the TLS handshake, TCP RST and connection gone. If I were to take a guess it's probably based on the SNI in TLS (since that was the last packet which came through).

I remember for a time the great firewall of West Taiwan could be circumvented by simply ignoring TCP RST packets injected by the firewall. This is where you are now.

How can this ignoring be done?
Replies: >>1830

You needed an iptables rule on both ends to ignore RST packets

Lolwut? What relation does China have to this specific issue?
was wondering why I was only able to access with a VPN. I hate that Spectrum is the only decent internet option in my town sometimes.
@Admin
Here are some ideas Anons are tossing around to deal with this issue. Maybe if we all work together, we can patch the OP ITT to make suggestions for recommended workarounds?

Genuinely wondering what actually prompted this, It probably was the liberal usage of the nigger word all over the site, or maybe they just couldn't handle the vore thread from /d/ lol

Seems like Spectrum also notably blocks usage of Tor as of late, good grief.

Jesus Christ. Is this the goy shield, or is it truly blocked?

"They're" probably just trying to censor all non-mainstream discussion

Try DNS changes

Are the other sites on the webring blocked too, or only trashchan holds this distinguished position?
But if they also block tor, that's getting concerning. Does this help? (And jeez, wait 5 more years and best korea will have more open internet than the US)

Seems to just be Trash for now. I cam get on Alogs, Zzz, Smug and the others but for this one a vpn is needed, at least with spectrum

One would think /cow/ or /pol/ or lolis would attract more attention, but oh well.
Did anyone try to fill this form yet? It asks for personal details so probably no, but if anyone feels brave, feel free to do it.

I've had no issues with using Tor, but I also use alternative DNS so maybe that's involved. If I ever find that's changed I'll let someone on the webring know (presuming I'll be excluded from access here).
>t. Spectrum user

I can attest to having used similar alternative Tor-access approaches (specifically Bridges) successfully through, say, a public library that explicitly blocks Tor (to any site).

Under Brave it goes something like this:
Settings > Privacy and security > Tor > Use Bridges > (pick one)

Jej.

BTW, surely there are other sites out there which are """toxic & problematic""" according to ((( sp*ctrum's ))) rules? I expect there are some type of forums or other venues where the admins & users of these places can get together to compare notes, &tc? I'm not aware of any rn, but then I've not needed to find them before. IBs have always been my go-to, and we have so far proved generally resilient. But as @Admin says, things may get bumpier here on out. It would be good if we can find such places ahead of time. And for us here on Trashchan, that time would seem to be sooner rather than later.

If any'non finds any such forums/spectrum-specific threads please post them here. TIA.

I only saw it yesterday, I don't know if Admin actually posted it as news on the front page, if he did then I missed it.
