Non-specific nepposting here if there isn't a general on /v/

(not a replacement for the /v/ threads, more like a supplement)

>you will never caress Neptune's adorable plump ass and smother the ass cheeks with little kisses before drenching them with your saliva as you lick it like ice cream.
I guess we should take the opportunity to discuss about what happened on the last /v/ thread, and to prepare things for it to not happen again.

>What is the problem, in your opinion ?
>Why is that a problem ?
>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion ? And if it isn't the case, why ?
>Which other options could have been done ? And why did the move seemed to be the superior option to you, if it's the case ?

Please elaborate as much as possible. The more complete your answers will be, the better it'll be for the thread. I'll answer too, but later, as to not influence others.

There isn't one.

See above.

>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion ? And if it isn't the case, why ?
At the very least it'll shut up the people who endlessly shit up the thread by trying to force them to shut down and thus contribute far more harm than anything they're complaining about.

>Which other options could have been done ? And why did the move seemed to be the superior option to you, if it's the case ?
We could easily continue the threads on /v/ and if people wanted to post in them they would get posts. People come in to ask about the series all of the time and it's good to have it somewhere where the community won't stagnate. The most a move does is quiet down the true shitposters.

The generals seem to be completely derailing into lewd talk and a few arguments over best character. I'm responsible for causing the thread to derail into scat last general, and I apologize for this.
>Why is that a problem?
see halfchan's /ksg/
>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion? And if it isn't the case, why?
The only real solution is to have a new game come out so it can be discussed, all this really will do is serve as a sort of damage control as nep discussion slowly dies.

>What is the problem, in your opinion ?

The problem in my opinion is how I kept going on about how much I love butts and making the conversation turn to shit like >>1710 mentioned.

>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion ? And if it isn't the case, why ?

To help curb all the fetish talk and off-topic nonsense? Like, everyone knows that the reason these threads are so popular is because of the discussion (not on-topic) between other anons and its better than the other nepgen.

I too, can't think of anything to your last question
>>1708
>What is the problem, in your opinion ?
No problem.
>Why is that a problem ?
No problem isn't a problem, silly me.
>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion ? And if it isn't the case, why ?
Because it can disperse some shitposters. Not every of them, though, as the most tenacious ones will follow here, making the whole move moot.
>Which other options could have been done ? And why did the move seemed to be the superior option to you, if it's the case ?
I proposed several times to self-moderate ourselves like we have done during the past with shitposters, which seems to be a more moderate option, and, more importantly, one that we know it works. You can guess from there than the move isn't the best option to me.

>>1710
You don't need to apologize. People truly wanting a move would have taken another reason to pushing it again and again until we bowed to them. And while I don't have any interest in scat (I honestly think it's a little disgusting, but to each their own), I don't think hindering others' choice of discussion is a better thing.
Replies: >>1713

I also think scat is disgusting, I was just fucking with an anon who wanted to eat >pudding out of Nep's ass.

Also, self-moderation only works if the shitposters trickle, this is why every summer both chans get a little bit worse each time.

Editor reporting in.

Sorry I haven't been participating in the threads lately, been cutting down on the time I use to sink in vidya to other things like learning Japanese and I've decided to post in other boards since /v/ doesn't really cut it for me these days.

I still have the costume requests saved so don't think I removed them.

Farewell Reality is still on hold, so as before, the ETA for when it'll be released is up in the air.

I'll probably participate more when the new games are out.

Outside of one person (9f42df on /v/'s thread) trying hard to push the thread's closure, results seem rather mixed, and from what's visible here (from >>1709 on, on this very thread), people seem to see no problem on these threads outside of that fetish discussion.

So, what should we do ? Keep the threads continuing on /v/, stopping them until a definite date, or something else ? Please try to elaborate as much as possible, again.

>What is the problem, in your opinion ?
>Why is that a problem ?
Due to lack of new general content to talk and discuss about, the generals are begging to spiral down in to just waifu baiting, lewd posting and other cancer.
It's getting to the point were it's taking over the generals and just derails any effort of actual discussion. not like there's that much to discuss now anyway
We barely managed to re-rail the last one
We'll eventually end up with cancerous content-less nonsense threads like it is on haflchan.

>Why is moving away for some time a solution, in your opinion ? And if it isn't the case, why ?
It's just a temporary solution. why make generals if we've got nothing special to talk about anyway?
We should just let it rest for a bit until we get relevant news and such.
Other than that, some better self regulations would go a long way to keep the cancer at bay.

At least let's just wait for Nepmas before launching a new thread.

Yet only one person was constantly pushing it forward, even though those which were considering it ended up backing down, plus the idea about ignoring the others' arguments against it by constantly pushing the "we should close the thread until Christmas (Nepmas)", to the point it was clearly forced.

Also, I still don't see how waifu/lewd posting is now cancer when it never was before (in more or less equal lenghts), and when it actually grew into other things which are now part of the threads (like the writings or the thread killers, for examples).

Also, check the older generals, we always had such posting since the very first ones and I know what I'm talking about, I made most of them and it never spiraled that much. Which means we need some self-moderation back. Going into excess of moderation and exile will only dwindle our already few numbers.

And I also thought about keeping a move as a last resort.

I'm rather against forcing changes, but I can understand your point in wanting to keep the community as good as it actually is. Still, I think that what we should do for the moment is trying to listen said community as much as possible.
Now, the current one is a nice thread, I like it.

Maybe we should try to write guides, tricks and tips, or just about the more hidden things? For example, I never knew that Neptune can naturally break the damage limit.

And it would give us good excuses to comment the characters' cuteness on the side, without the discussion devolving into fetishes.

Out of the stuff I'd call hidden, checking the status screen isn't quite what I'd have in mind.

There is some really obtuse stuff like enemy type resists (Machines and I THINK dragons taking half from physical attacks would be an example) that I can't even fully remember that would be handy to have written down for easy access though.

A heads up type writeup wouldn't be bad either, with stuff like general basic info for new players that acknowledges the importance of buffs and notes bullshit like the chapter lockout for certain plans in R;B1.

It doesn't really help that the middle and most of late sections of it are not best parts in general. Rei got fucked up bad although I appreciate that they were trying to up visuals of her being an existential threat in comparison to did in the games.

The Hyperdimension actions of Rei were really glossed over; which is fine since Neptune and Plutia are the stars and they aren't *in* that dimension, but I still feel that could have been fleshed out more.

Well we are getting Noire on PC early, and then we have Nep U later in the year. Probably VII after that on PC.

PS4 has VII in a month or two.

Vita USA will get Sega Grills…

…as far as Japan I'm not really sure. I haven't heard about anything regarding future installments yet. But there's a fair amount of Nep saturation right now, so I guess they can focus on other IPs.

/nep/ is backed up here; it's an old catalog page but it will lead to the most modern versions of the thread backups anyway (not everything is backed up though, most projects threads are but the waifu stuff isn't) -> https://archive.is/yItRJ

If things really fuck up, we can use the Retranslation chat channel as a redoubt. It is on the pinned Retranslation page. It doesn't hurt to have it as a backup…

We're not talking about HDN1 on PS3 right? The English voice acting in that is flat as hell and the localization was horrible. Altered script shit like making "Neptune is fat guys" jokes everywhere. Re;Birth1 is the only game that got a good localization at all. And even that had horrible acting work, unfortunately only the later IFI jobs managed to get the majority of the English actors to realize they weren't lifeless shells, but by then they already hired Doerr.

>Hey all I said it had best localization of all the neptunia games.
But you played Re;Birth1 and would know that wasn't true even if you didn't play with English voices on. I mean, what you were comparing it to was HDN1, the game where the English voice actors had never done the characters before and honestly felt like they hired people off of the street at points. Not like Re;Birth1 did much better there considering the amount of scenes that they feel like they've just looked into the abyss and are empty souls though.

At least I can appreciate the English voice acting in the state it's in right now even if the script is complete garbage, I legitimately like it at this point even if I need to throw up whenever Neptune reads off those horribly altered lines. Here's hoping V-II gets the justice it deserves now that Doerr is gone.

I just forget Rebirth 1 easily given how little time overall against other games I spent with it.

I hate the english voice acting in new games way more than original, at least neptune sounds more like her character than just outright snarky bitch. Vert is OK. Blanc is OK minus, etc. Everything else is OK or just bad.

But yeah Rebirth 1 is better localization than 1, like said I just forgot about it entirely while making the sentence I think way more of originals on PS3.

Even if they fuck up the loc, at least some of it already has been independently translated. Provided the tools work on VII, it'd just be a case of someone extracting and updating the text files with that work. Seems the fans for this series have to also act as the white blood cells, too.

>>1902
Shouldn't hurt on that end. It'll be interesting to see how far Doerr deviated from the game this time.

As it stands right now, there are obviously cancerous lines which we have so far corrected where we have seen them, although I'm noticing less frequent changes as well in comparison to RB2 (every several lines vs nearly every other line).

Hopefully that trend will continue, but even in the prologue as it is right now, Nick fucked up a line from Kei (as spoken by another character as she isn't even in the storyline proper, that takes "skill") so we can't be too careful…

Only if Doerr hid it under one of the current abilities currently in the RB3 script.

Don't think he went that far though as he's quite satisfied with taking the WYSIWYG dialogue and then throwing in Leddit memes (aka outdated memes from anywhere else) or outdated pop culture references to "spice it up".

Might be a fun edit though outside of the project.

Yeah. Sometimes I can understand localization for the sake of - localization, it is not exactly just translation. Still I would say as opposite of shit NISA and folks pull off, Tales games since my recent ability to play them undubbed surprised me how close their localization always goes with the original, forced dub until zestiria aside, really great localization work for a JRPG so Japanese as tales games.

>annoying when you hear something else, something short or something like "NEPU", and it isn't even reflected in the writing, and this is coming from someone who doesn't know a lick of Japanese

That is irritating. Actually that reminded me of a scene in RB2, the beginning of the idol competition. It is EXTREMELY OBVIOUS that Neptune's first lines are "Nepgear, Nepgear, NEPGEAR!", and then you look at the sub and it becomes this "Nepnepnepnepnepnep" thing. Needless to say that was fixed.

Then there's stuff you wouldn't notice, like the scene where you deal with the final robot in Lowee in Chapter 2 of the same game, Underling and Hard Breaker do a fairly funny joke and it's replaced with some kind of Star Trek reference.

Autists get really mad about characters they don't like and will use any reasoning to justify it.

Plutia attracts the most flak because she directly goes after peoples' waifus and favorites for her character gag, raising the most potent reaction.

Similarly, people will get mad at Peashy for being a child that got brainwashed by someone else, and also blame her for Neptune's reaction in the over dramatized anime.

Oh yeah, I've run into anti-Pii people. There are some things about Pii that are irritating but that's because she's a REALLY LITTLE KID. Like, sub Ram/Rom age mentally.

But I don't hold the brainwashing shit against her at all. In fact that's sort of why I was hoping for harsher punishment for the two remaining non-Rei Sages since that whole section plus the anguish that Nep and Plut went through due to it REALLY ticked me off. They got away with too much shit just to be let off with a slap on the wrist like they did.

But yeah there are retards that really do think Pii had a conscious choice in the situation. I do not get it at all.

Plutia is incredibly sharp but hides it behind a mask of pretending to be dumb and airy as shit. Sort of like Neptune only it's even more extreme. The anime shows this even better than the games did but there you have to be paying attention as well.

Well first of all I'd disagree with you on the "she wasn't really upset/felt remorse", you don't spend days/weeks trying to find every thing of hers that - by the way - she painstakingly saved for ten years in a special box, and traumatize every one of your close friends in a last ditch attempt to psychoanalyze away a decade worth of mental trauma if you don't really care about them. The anime makes it even more explicit (although sadly it took a more melodramatic route).

Second of all you also have Nep's ego talking as well, which is a second-stage defense mechanism beyond her normal human persona. Neptune's laziness obscures her Purple Heart ego (which is quite healthy), which overall is a further obfuscation that at her core she doesn't think she's a really good person at times (which leads her to play games to distract herself from this, which reinforces this in an endless cycle).

This can be seen a bit better with her relationship with Nepgear where she's terrified at times that Gear might secretly hate her (she doesn't, but her problems do drive Nepgear up the wall at times), but also on and off in various manga releases as well, in other contexts and situations that may or may not involve her sister.

>>1956
This is basically accurate. And if the manga that she's in is any indication, Peashy if she had matured a little more would at least be average intelligence herself.

Planeptune CPUs are very…manipulative, in that way. They seem puffy until you screw around with them, then they become a concrete wall.
Replies: >>1967

>Or if she'll get sidelined like Blanc did in her own game
Blanc pretty much carried her own game though. She shared billing with Neptune, but it really is her game through and through.

Also, V practically is Puru's game, the same way Mk2 is practically Nepgear's game.

I have a gut feeling that VII's translation will be better than RB2, not as good as RB1. As for the spinoffs, I have a feeling they're gonna have more "liberal" translations. By that they're gonna imitate Doerr.

Neptune's actual lines seem to be fine for the most part. You'll have to look at individual frames because they skip through the dialogue.
>>2046
They are more likely to retranslate lines when there isn't an English dub already over it. Looking at RB3, there's a very marked improvement in the quality of the dialogue whenever it comes to a scene that didn't end up getting voiced.

I don't really have a problem with her killing everybody (besides, except for Linda and Nep they pretty much eventually offed themselves for the most part), she needed a little more development other than "Nice And Perfect All The Time".

Neptune and Noire's poor self images cause like 50% of the trouble in this series anyway, at least pre-VII.

Speaking of which, she did kill one mundane humanoid as well. But given the situation…

Actually that's an interesting question; what does everyone think about CPUs dispensing capital punishment on persistent and noteworthy non-supernatural troublemakers?

Personally, it doesn't really bother me given the setting…so long as it doesn't go into Blue Heart territory.

Although to be honest that in her particular case, she was in large part egged on by her "friend"…

Long time, no see, /nep/. My Plutia Civ 5 mod is probably going to be published tonight, and I wanted to thank the anons who contributed to the dialog files. This will probably be the last Nep I make; the workshop is frankly getting as oversaturated with Nep mods as the series itself is with spinoff games and remakes.

This means that I'm probably going to have a focus on improving my existing Civs. Anyone have any balance or flavor suggestions for them? I already know Noire and Uni need nerfs and Vert probably needs a buff, among other things.

First of all, Nepgear is taking the Gehaburn way more often than I'd like. It will be greatly reduced, so that when she actually does take it, it will be a real "oh shit" moment.

I also plan on reworking the Event a bit. It will actually be possible to resist the sword and get the Share Blade instead, for example. However, this must be done relatively early on and will require you to go out of your way to acquire lots of Shares. If you fail, the permanent war is going to trigger against everyone at once, city-states included. At that point, I feel a scaling bonus to production and science based on the number of opponents you now have would be fair, rather than the flat +50% science you currently receive.

I probably will give her a bigger buff as an AI than as a human player. I'm just concerned that doing would make beating Conquestgear on Deity mathematically impossible.

I do have to say the army of dolls is a little creepy, but then again I'd expect no less of UD-Planeptune's CPU.

The other doll mechanic seems interesting. Are all the dolls manufactured, or can you find special ones through raiding and exploration?

As far as suggestions, any thoughts about distinct UD/HD Vert and Blanc variants? Like Noire, they have some slightly different flavoring between the two copies. I could see UD Vert having a more aggressive/scheming theme over HD Vert for example, or UD Blanc having an emphasis on friends and diplomacy rather than HD Blanc's culture and conquest bonuses.
Replies: >>2133 >>2134
>>2132

You almost always have to make them yourself, but there will be a low-chance Event if E&D is active which will give you one instantly (at a cost).

UD versions of Blanc and Vert are already a little differentiated from their HD counterparts; I just haven't documented it as well as Noire since I built her with the idea of splitting her into the two versions from the start.

Both UD Vert and UD Blanc are more aggressive. UD Noire is actually less aggressive. UD Blanc gets more of a bonus to the combat strength of her units in HDD, whereas HD Blanc gets longer We Love the King Day. UD Vert gets strength bonuses for spear-type units in HDD; HD Vert gets city defense. In later updates I'll both introduce a few more differences, both in regards to dialog text and game mechanics. For example, UD Vert will actually gain a Pikeman UU instead of the Ran-Ran worker UU.

More than ten years ago a kid agreed to me and a bunch of kids to blindfold and tie him to a chair for a "very fun game". I was the one who pushed him down the 4-5 stair steps. His parents made him transfer and he may or may not have a trauma or something because of it. None of my mates ever knew or said a word and to this day I don't regret it. Also my favorite is Iris and I'm a masochistic footfag

I risk it because anything that lies in store is better than life.

Also anyone knows how to make the nep facerig models work? You had to extract them, but no idea where.

Oh, and

RED, I guess.
>>2175
You and Iris seem like a match in heaven
>>2175
Facerig was IIRC basically you were lucky to even get them given the author pulled them.

Although unless you are streaming something or doing some kind of Skype fuckery, I'm not sure why one would use Facerig. I don't see a lot of utility.

Curiosity and too much free time. I've been trying the program with the avatars that come with it, and it's rather accurate. Except if you're wearing glasses, then the eyelids and eyebrows spaz out.

Someone posted them in one of the /v/ threads, but forgot to include a readme.

Well, if you get it working I'm sure people will be interested in the procedure. IIRC wasn't just Neptune? Probably would be fun to have all four CPUs and Gear in a chat.

If anyone has the source I would greatly appreciate it.

The name on it lead me to nothing ;_;

It's probably due to cross posting on the 8/v/ Nep thread.

Just to keep conversation up, there's a closed beta for Nep U on PC
