How does one get out of the house recreationally?
I love taking hikes and working out, but that's all I do. I need something else. I don't mind spending little money, but shopping gets stressful because I don't have a lot of space. My friends aren't in the area right now, and it's pretty tough to make any more when I don't leave the house. I don't drink and I don't particularly like boozers, so bars are off the table. Bands never come into my area, so concerts aren't viable. I've looked for stuff for ages, and come up with nothing.
Since the fall of 8chan. Say 8chan did not get taken down and survived into today, how would things be? What would the culture be like in 2024? Would it have grown in more users or bled users?

Hello everyone! I was talking to someone the other day and we discussed hikki things. One thing he mentioned that I never really considered is that solitude can become loneliness depending on your perception of yourself.
What I've come to ask you all is, do you enjoy your own company? Do you make yourself laugh and enjoy being alone with yourself? It's proven that, too much time by yourself will make you go mad, but in short bursts it's actually very healthy. This leads to striking a balance between human interaction and solitude being the best way to live life. How do you feel when you're alone? How do you feel when you're around friends? Do you look forward to the transition between being alone and sharing a space with other individuals and vice versa?
I enjoy my own company and although I'm very timid and nervous when it comes to imminent human interaction, I enjoy it in the moment and am glad it happened after the fact. I look forward to being by myself at the end of the day and maybe even for a full day to detox from the world, but after a few days of not seeing anyone or hanging out with anybody I become more and more lonely and seek interactions, even if they're just phone calls. I grew up with many friends in my neighborhood, but they all ended up moving away by the time I was in my teen years and the only friends I had up until recently were people online that I'd speak to almost every day. These days, I have a large circle of good friends in real life, so I more so enjoy being alone when I can. Back when all my friends were online, I was extremely lonely in the real world and being by myself was depressing because it's all I really had at the time.
The questions laid out and the examples given are not direct and more so there to probe your thinking about your own unique situation and view. I'd like to know how you conduct yourself mentally when dealing with solitude, loneliness, and when you're in the company of people you care about enough to go out of your way to spend time with. Share as much as you'd like
What keeps you up, late at night, while the world quiets down ?
I come back here a lot hoping for that same magic I felt on the original board and I hate to be a debbie downer but it's nowhere near as strong as the OG vibes.
Late City felt like a real place sometimes. The discussions on that board and the type of content you could find was nothing like any board I'd ever been on. A prerequisite to visiting was a nice somber almost Silent Hill esque ambience I'd play through my speakers, no lights on and of course it had to be night time. It felt like I was in another world and no board has ever made me feel like that.
I appreciated it so much whenever I'd visit, but damn I wish I would've known it was all just gonna disappear one day. I don't go on boards too often, so every time I had that feeling about coming to Late City on a nice cool night, it was an event.
That's all. I don't have more to say if you even consider anything I wrote as saying something. Just wanted to vent a slight frustration and post for the first time in forever. I miss it, lads :/
I've gotten started playing classic Doom on PC, and looking for some good wads and maybe mods to try out. Does /late/ have any recommendations?

For me, it's probably sitting at my window at 4AM with a cool spring breeze blowing, staring out on to the darkened street listening to Watermelon In Easter Hay by Frank Zappa, and just reflecting.
Or that time me and my dad some how found Pom Poko on cable and we were baffled by everything we were seeing.

I'm partial to inca kola myself. My girlfriend got me some for my birthday one year and it's been a staple since. There's nothing else quite like it. Iron Bru has a much stronger and less refreshing taste.
I've been playing with the Mythic GME system as part of a way to play TTRPGs solo. I've also been practicing the mind palace technique, and I've been toying with the following plan of action:
>Memorize Mythic GME generation tables. Namely the fate chart and random event generator.
>Memorize RNG algo.
>Sit in closed room.
>Activate mind palace recording.
>Use daydreams/imagination supercharged with solo TTRPG gaming for personal enjoyment.
I'm interested in this because it provides one the capability to go full ascetic monk mode. It really makes me wonder about how much of the potential of the imagination of the human mind could be unlocked with such techniques. However, I recognize that all of the items I say here are actually rather complex and definitely easier said than done.
I've tried it with simplified charts to memorize, and it is incredibly taxing. It feels like my brain is running at full kilt keeping everything in place, but it's also pretty fun. I feel like if I did this enough, however, I would disappear into a complete maladaptive daydream spiral.
Hello, As of today, I will no longer be BO. Its not that I've lost interest in imageboards or anything. It's that life has become a bit more complicated than it was when I restarted this board as a bunker back in January and I just don't have the free time I used to. So I've been making certain sacrifices to keep myself in a good headspace and not become overwhelmed. Sadly the board is one of those sacrifices. I will be transferring that duty to DD. Who I've spent the better part of the year moderating and maintaining this board with. I trust that they will take good care of the board. Maybe In the future I'll come back as a volunteer. I recently dug out my old nes and picked up some random games off eaby. I had never heard of guardian legend before popping it in to the console, man how did that game slip under the radar? 10/10 nes kino. I also picked up the nes port of wizardry, wasn't expecting much from old console port of a reasonably complex pc game however, it's quite good actually. As far as I can tell none of the games mechanics were cut, rolling characters, classes and races all seem to well represented and since it has a battery backup you don't need to fuck around with passwords or savedisks. Probably how I'll play the game from now on unless I find major bug or something. Are there any retard friendly resources for learning 6502 assembly? I'd like to pick it up but, I haven't done any programing in a long time.
